anyone have any opinions on Sony decks? Good ot bad?

I want a basic MP3 player for my TJ, with maybe USB input.

I went to Visions and bought this one, it has front USB and IPOD controller including the cable, and got it installed for $180, plus $50 for a dash plate, wiring harness and shop supplies

So first you ask us our opinion on Sony decks..good or bad...

Then you say you want a basic MP3 player

Then you already went and bought a deck

So what do you need our opinion for if you already bought and installed one....the point of asking for our opinion is to get our opinion first before going out and buying it

Sorry dude, Installation is happening late next week.

By MP3 player, I meant MP3 deck.
I did buy the sony but was told it was a new model, which I'm finding isn't exactly true, so I'm having a bit of buyers remorse. Had an older Sony deck and wasn't too impressed with it, so I was wondering if anyone had any opinions.

I blame it on lack of sleep!

I personally dont like Sony decks, they do offer high power wattage but the sound quality lacks, basically they're just good for loudness IMO, if you have the cash, I'd pay more for an Alpine deck but I cant find any Alpines @ Visions with a USB slot so...

So what's a good mid range deck? JVC? Pioneer? Clarion?

The deck itself feels plasticky and cheap, but it sounds pretty good.

I've got a JVC w/ aux in port for my car, had a JVC with USB slot but returned it when I got my Pioneer working..

Then the pioneer melted itself :|..

I like the sound of it personally.. the Pioneer didn't have much strength to it but it was kinda toast - and I find Alpine to be pretty unreliable..

Blaupunkt sound alright, but they're ugly as sin for the majority..

Sony look nice and clean, work well, but don't have the sound quality some other decks have.. the only thing Sony I'd be comfortable putting in my car is a deck however..

I try to avoid buying anything made by Sony, I view them as the flashy shit that looks great and makes you the envy of your friends, but when you're alone you curse and bang on it because the shit don't work properly.

Had a Sony Deck a while back, no issues. Sounded good and worked well. But not something I would use for competition or consider high end. Good if you just want something cheap to use for a bit.
