I'm planning to head to Laos in January next year, and it would be great if you guys could give me some information about the place/ your experiences. I'll most likely spend most of my time in Northern Laos (Luong Prabang area) and definitely be doing The Gibbon Experience!

Thanks in advance!

I can't tell you much as I don't know too much about Laos myself but it's my home country and I'm going there in 10 more days! All I know is the people are very laid back, you'll be eating alot of food with sticky rice, and you're going to need mad bug spray! Also you gotta try the beer lao and lao lao (rice whiskey) some good shit right there son.

Where in Laos are you heading off to? You'll have to give me a full report when you get back! Yes, I heard about the bugs... not sure how I will handle that since I swell up pretty bad with just a mosquito bite!

I'm going to try going everywhere I can! If weather permits that is.... seeing how it's rainy season now. But for sure I'll be going to Pakse, Champasak, Luang Prabang, and of course Vientiane. I even got a blog going if you want to check it out. bukjohn.blogspot.com nothing really on it right now but check in in July, which is when I'll be there. I'll try to update it whenever I have access to the internet. Definitely feel free to leave comments, or if you have any questions!

Not long enough! About a week... a week in Thailand and a week in Laos. Where are you staying in Luang Prabang?

I'm from Calgary, I'm just here for an exchange. I figured I'd hit Asia on the way back.

What is the weather like there in the summer? I can't figure out what kind of clothes to bring, I'd hate to haul a coat around the whole time and it be 32 degrees haha

Yo that shit isnt up to date. I'm talking about the money & costs... It's gonna be a lil more but still pretty affordable. but anywho, JWL I'm probably going to stay in a hotel I dont think I got family there in Luang Prabang and thrasher, ya it's rainy season in summer there but it's short but hard rain, like wasabi short but intense, still going to be pretty hot tho. I'm bringing 45 SPF sunscreen while I'm there. If ur going back to australia u might as well buy plane tickets there and go during dry season december and for u aussies i dont think it high season and plane tickets r like 6 bills.

I was in Thailand 2 years ago. If you get a chance, Phuket is awesome! I wish I had more than a week there. Spent almost two weeks in Bangkok. Transit system is awesome, fast, and cheap. Cabbies will try to take you to Jewellry stores or Suit stores. They get kick backs for bringing tourists by. Fuckin tuktuk drivers are annoying.

PM JRSC00LUDE. He was in laos. Probably has lots of great info.

Enjoy your trip!
