I'm buying my first car in the near future and I got a question which has been eating me up for a while now. How different is the acceleration between a 1.1 l engine and a 1.2 l or a 1.2 l and a 1.4 ? I presume it varies with the weight of the car but I'd like just a rough idea.

Thank you in advance!

it makes absolutley no (well little difference)...there are many more factors which determine the acceleration of a car

weight, traction, gearing, ride height, driver skill/technique (if it applies)....

It all depends some cars have 2L 240hp motor like the S2K but others like the neon have a 2l motor with 120HP so you can't just go by engine size. Also mass plays a huge part ...you need to look at power to weight ratio! If you want a fast car buy a light weight small car and drop a high HP small motor into it...even better get BOOST!

it matters what kind of car you are talking about and hp gearing etc.
