I'm almost 18 (god dammit, still a few months to go)... been driving since 14. and i'm a guy (stupid girls with their %66 less payments) :madred:

I have a 92 mx3 and the car is under my name and so is the insurance (no third driver crap).

I'm paying $2990 a year for third party reliability <--- or some shit like that :burnout: no coverage on the car though :thumbsdow

Just wondering if everyone else has to sell their organs like me to afford their insurance.

Maybe I'm getting fucked :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

I pay around $1000/car, full coverage. No tickets, no accidents.

sleepign with an insurance agent helps to reduce your rates...it's one of those "loop holes" in the system

That's how it is for a 18 year old! I bought my Prelude when I was 18 and my insurance quoted me $8000 but I went under my parents name but still paid $5000.

not exactly.
but let's see.....

4 speeding tickets, 1 accident, 1 excessive speeding ticket = ass raping on insurance.

But all those tickets were like a year or 2 ago.
I don't speed much anymore.

Mine is just unver $4400 a year. Judging by previous posts, its almost a deal. I'm 19, driving full time for over 3 years now.
Full coverage on the Accord (except windshield), 3 tickets, 3 not-at-fault accidents and 1-at-fault accident. And that includes insurance coverage to drive our other 3 cars aswell...:dunno:

How does that work? You guys have more cars than drivers, I thought to go under your parents name, you have to have only two cars in the house. Anything else goes under yours?

Thats what my dad told me, and says we can only have two cars in the house. WHen I get mine, one has to go. He could just be making stuff up to me tho?

You are correct.

To go under your parents name you will need more drivers than cars. If you have the same number of cars and drivers, that is full time cause everyone has a car at any given time.

The camry is not insured right now. Just remember, there are ways around everything! I can explain it to you the next time you come over. Don't ask Susan, she has no clue.

usually the big "4" "0" is a good sign to leave

BTW: my problem is that i'm paying about $3000 now but in september when the new "insurance year" begins, this years new 4 speeding tickets (including a 46 over :D ) and one fender-bender at-fault (stupid bitch slammed on her brakes on an icy road, her rear-end slipped into the other lame (which I was in the process of entering..... and bam!)

only did a minor 2 inch crack on my bumper since I was almost stop... didn't even lock the seat belts but she still managed to sue my insurance company for "Permanant Neck Tissue Damage" whatever that bullshit means

I'm just scared of what they will quote me next year

Okay...I just recieved my renewal in the mail today for my insurance company!

I'm 19, no drivers ED.

Current company: ING Novex; Been with for 1 year

1000000 Liab, PL/PD, 250 Ded. Comprehensive no Glass.

3596.00/yr or 299.67/mo

I called TD Home and Auto Insurance:

1000000 Liab, PL/PD, 250 Ded W/glass

1936.00/yr or 161.30/mo

Thats a savings of 46%!!!

I just about died when I saw my renewal, as I was expecting it to be 2500 and not 3600 a year.

So as you can understand, I'm very happy...as I'm going to have an extra 150 bucks a month extra, which IMO is pretty substantial!

Wow, that TD Home is a great savings! Surprised it is so cheap considering you didn’t even take the drivers ed. course. I took the damn course and they still want $8000 from me. Plus they also have glass coverage which the other company doesn’t offer.

Is TD Home affiliated with TD Canada Trust?

Those quotes off of kanetix seem a bit high. The only one that seems right is the TD Home and Auto insurance quote. I think something's rigged there. My quote was around 1700 for TD, and that's what I'm paying at AMA. The other quotes off of that kanetix site were 4,000 - 5,000...and that seems excessively high. I think they're inflating the competitions quotes or something.

Ben

Kanetix isn't associated with TD, but look at my company I have currently, 3600 a year was even more than the other companies on there quoted me...

TD is definatly a good company, i have heard good things about it from a couple people...

My dad insured his BMW motorcycle through them, we didn't go through kanetix site, he just called them an it was like 600 less than ING

Hey guys,
This is just a little bit of insite from a wise lawyer I know.

If you can get decent rates with 2 million liability I would STRONGLY suggest it. Reason being is that this lawyer (my dad) has dealt with many insurance cases and told me that 1m is just not enough anymore in most cases. If you were to ever seriously injure someone, settlements these days are outrageous!
You would be doing yourself a great favor by bumping it up. Now I understand $ is what it comes down too, but if you can afford it, do it!

Happy hunting.

My frigging insurance company raised rates on me....originally I'm supposed to pay $6600 but since my accident, they already assumed fault on my part without telling me and raised my premiums to $8200. I'm paying for insurance on two cars: My G20 and the SLK. I've only had 1 minor ticket.

That Kanetix.com website quoted me between 10,000 - 14,000!!!
But I insure with my moms company...that is supposed to be cheaper.

Somethings whacked then, because me on a 2002 Porsche 911 TT full coverage and all that good stuff is only 11500 a year

That seems pretty steep for a female with 1 ticket (1 doesn't raise your insurance)

Some examples:

Me on '02 SLK32AMG= 7100 full coverage

Me on '02 SLK320= 5400 full coverage

Me on '02 BMW M3= 8400 full coverage

Me on '02 GTI= 6000 full coverage

Me on '02 Jetta GLXVR6= 4200 full coverage

Me on a Prelude SH= 5500 full coverage

Well I guess I shall join the fun.

1996 Eagle Talon TSi AWD
2 Million Liability, $1000 deductable, No Glass, Full Coverage: $6500/yr

1992 Chevy Crapmaro RS
1 Million Liability, $500 deductable, No Glass, Full Coverage:
$3800/yr

Plus I get insured as a part time driver on my moms vans (business and personal) and my dads Z71.

Not to shabby..... Would like to pay less though :)

Ps. No tickets, No accidents, 1 not at fault.

You guys think insurance is BS, try having an integra - when that report came out on Kanetix.com saying tegs have the highest theft rate, I did a quote. Apparently having a 2002 Mustang GT Convertible is the same price as having my teg...

I pay about $1500 a year, full coverage. No accidents, no tickets, 5 star rating, and an occupational discount. :D
And it will finally go down a lot in Jan. when I turn 25.

Man, judging from the $$ on the previous posts, I am super glad that I am an old fart.

I pay less that $850 per year on each car. Full coverage, except glass. Minimum 1 M, max 2 M.

On the 2 summer cars, I pay $240 and $140 for a full year including coverage for parts, and replacement at appraised value, not book value.
