Each fill also contributes to your annual petroleum patronage return. For the 2007 financial year, this added a further 10.5¢/litre in savings (based on an average fuel price with an 12.6% allocation rate). This is in addition to the 3¢/litre you receive at the time of fueling in the form of grocery coupons!

The question is what does it mean. My friend fills at coop all the time but she only got a $14 check this year.

Depends how much she actually spent on gas. She also has to give her co-op member number too or she won't get anything.

We got a couple thousand dollars back last year in gas rebates.

no we didnt. we got $700ish. to get a couple thousand you have to fill up almost 20K L of gas.

I believe you have to pay inside and give the co-op number to the cashier to get the discount.

Doesn't giving your co-op number to the machine when you pay at the pump achieve the same result?

So it does save additional 10.5 cents per litre, doesn't it?

Take a closer look at your return cheque next time. A portion of your return is allocated to shares and another portion is paid out in refund. In order to receive a bigger refund you need to be a co-op member for a long period of time.

Which means it's not a 10.5c off for new members?

I think it is still 10.5 even if your a new member... 3.5 cents off your gas per litre every fill up and you get 3.5 cents/litre to use for groceries and stuff ( every fill up i get about a dollar worth of coupons ) and 3.5 cents/litre spent comes back once a year by cheque from them.

Do you actually receive a reduced price/liter at the pump?

Or does the dividend payoff work out to a savings of 10.5 cents/liter.

Either way, their gas prices aren't bad even without those savings. My local Co-Op has cheaper 91 octane than the local Esso... even though the price of regular gas is a few cents lower at the Esso.

Hmm... maybe it's a trick to get people to think they're getting a good deal on Premium as well.

Yup 3.5/L off at the pump.
