Sept. 2nd - Beyond.ca Track Day #2

On Sept 2, 2002 I have the track tentatively booked until the end of this week. I need at least 23 people (24 max) comitted to go again. The price will be the same ($200), paying $100 deposit upfront.

The setup/ format will be almost the same as last time and we will have the track from 9am till 5pm or 10am till 6pm. Again, we will be capping cars at 24 to provide everyone with traffic free laps.

Last event, there were a few no-shows (and one that didn't pay deposit), and Fuji lost money on the deal once again. So the payment method will be a little different this time.

If you want in on this event, you must pay Fuji or rage2 a $100 deposit. We will then add you to the confirmed list. If you can't make it out after paying the deposit, you can "sell" your spot to someone else (we can keep a waiting list). If you don't show up, you will lose your deposit, and anyone that's at the track that day that wants to run last minute can take your spot and your deposit away from you. It's the only way to guarantee that the organizers don't lose money on it, it's been very nice of Fuji to lose money on the last 2 events and absorb it himself.

You can either PM Fuji or rage2 to meet up and pay the deposit, or show up on Friday (we'll set a time and location) to pay us the deposit. Here's a tentative list of interested people. I will post a confirmed list as soon as the deposits start to come in.

Besides, I am not interested running at the track. I have never raced on a track before and wouldn't feel comfortable. Just want to go and watch (To see what it's all about and whatnot) and to meet some people from this board to put some faces to names ;)

We've been doing 10am till 6pm the last events, just that we have to be there at 8:30am for the short instructional meetings.

Fuji gave us an option of 9 - 5 or 10 - 6 if you read his post. If we did 9, that means we'd have to be there at like 7:30 for the meetings and personally I think thats way too early.

It's not racing. It's a driving School/Event. No passing except on straights, etc.

How much track time do you get? Is it the 10-15 cars on the track at a time with the instructor riding in the car with you?

A lot of track time. Morning you get 33% of the track time (3 groups). Afternoon you get 50% of the track time (2 groups). There's 4 hours in the morning, and 4 hours in the afternoon. Most people don't go through all the sessions. I used about 1 and a half tanks of gas last time (I missed 2 sessions).

Damn, you guys must drive pretty hard, I think I used maybe half a tank of gas per day when I was with the BMW Club, I would like to go if an updated list as to who has put down their deposit has been formed.

Both. If you already have experience on the track, you can lap by yourself to get practice. The list isn't full yet, so if you want to run, PM me or Fuji to drop off a deposit to guarantee a spot.

Technically I gave up my full day so Mike and another friend Rob will split it. Despite his wishy washy reply, Mike will be there with bells on to show off his new brakes. :)

That's what I thought the first time out. I'm pretty sure after you get comfortable with the course you will want more! :burnout: It's up to you though... There will be a few guys who will show up and want to go out. You can ask them to split the day with you.

Fuji's right. I know of at least one person who is planning to show up and get in some laps in the afternoon is anyone is done driving for the day.
