From my sources at RIV, expect it in 3-4 days.
I dont think much will change... I personally dont even think the EVO will be added:(

Why would you say that? The bumper laws are all the same now, and there's no reason that the EVO won't be allowed.

I'm sure they'll find a reason for it..... maybe something to do with Immobilizer?? :dunno:

The law is being changed solely to bring the bumpers to spec.

The EVO was on the Inadmissible List citing the exact law that is changing (CMVSS 215); it will be admissible, directly from the horses mouth, so to speak.

For those wondering about getting through the immobilizer issue, here is a website listing some of the aftermarket immobilizer systems that can be installed, and by who:

2003 TO 2009 Lancer
Evolution. The vehicle
does not comply to
CMVSS 215 (bumpers)
and the manufacturer
informed Transport
Canada that the Canadian
modifications parts are not
available.

It's on page 14 of the link that you posted, unless you were looking at something else??

Intense... this is good news for sure. I'm sure it won't be long before many evo 8s and 9s start popping up on our roads... I believe C6 corvettes were inadmissable before too were they not?

They were admissible, but required a bumper modification.

I don't how many evo's will come up. Mitsu's not allowing you to transfer the warantee if you import into canada. Probably turn alot of people off.

if mitsu's are reliable as heavyD says they are, warranty shouldn't be an issue...

How many people will keep their EVO's stock for a warrantee to matter?

i have, and it passed.

just had to replace rear pads and hook up the foglights. but it also depends where you get the OOP done.

i was aleady expecting the tech to fail my car due to dot headlights and all that stuff, but it was a risk i was willing to take, if he did fail, i would just buy lexus gs300 headlights. but he didnt catch it so i said w/e paid for the brakes and got out of there.

i did see a car from another place get passed with bald tires and bad tie rods with leaking struts. now thats crooked
