If I were you I'd go pick up a pair of Logitech Z-2300's from Memory Express for like $100. I don't think there is a better pair of speakers for even close to that price on the market. I'm assuming you don't need surround sound.

ive got those Z-2300's on my computer with the Z-5300's on my xbox right beside them. By far the best 2.1 sound system ive had for my pc.

Creative Megaworks 510D. Capable of 5.1, but missing 3 speakers so only a 2.1 unless you have a few extra speakers laying around. $60
