ok so i am driving down 16th ave one my way to chestermere and i am doing about 140 (it is 4am) and my temp gauge read just under half............so so like 1 min later the temp is at 70 witch is almost min so my engine is getting cooler the longer i drive is this normal or is my car great :dunno:

In general, older VW's have weaker cooling systems. Being that is was 4am and it gets freaking cold out at night now, and you were going 140, the engine probably was running cooler by having the cold air blow through the rad even faster. IMO.
