View Full Version : My old car is TOAST! YEAH TOAST!

Well I ran into the guy who bought my old 240SX at Walt Healy. I talked to him for a minute or so. He said he was taking the car to Race city last night for the drift practice.

So I went last night to check it out. I watched the guy make a couple of runs in the car. He seemed to be doing well. Then on his next run he came out of the last S bend going onto the drag strip and the car kicked out and pointed itself right at the wall. He kicked the wall really hard too.

Pretty sure the car is a write off. I didn't have my camera so if anyone has updates or pictures post em up.

Pretty shitty thing to happen for his first time out drifting. This is exactly why I'm glad I never tried drifting this car on a road course and kept to the oval with pylon's. If the new owner is on here, Sorry about your luck.

RIP

well it won't be a write off unless he lies to the insurance company. Pretty sure most policies don't cover you at the track.

If he does lie, he will have to get a police report as the damage is over $1K. In that case, he would also have to perjure himself to the police.

Ouch ouch ouch, that sucks.

Is the guy ok? Any whiplash?

Damn, if insurance doesnt cover that he's fucked. I doubt he's going to be able to come up with a story to say that happened anywhere else.

Considering these pics are online already lying would not be a good idea.

Hope he's not hurt...

Wow thats SHITTY! Looked like a clean car.

Maybe he could use the same excuse for the insurance company as kids do when they come home with a hickey, "I dont know what happened, i think i may have fell into a door handle or something..."

I think he was fine. He was walking around and ripping shit off the car after the crash. He wasn't complaining about anything.

Wait -- do people actually beleive their car is still insured if they crash it at the track?

Cooked Rice
07-09-2008, 10:15 AM
well... if they are too broke and have to get insurance to fix their car if they get into an accident drifting, they shouldn't be doing it in the first place. pretty much all the guys know of the risk and are willing to pay out of their own pocket for fuck ups. otherwise they'd be committing insurance fraud. What would one say? Hit and run? lol

it was his second practice actually.

At least he was out there trying, definatley going hard.
You cant see from the pics posted, but at the exit of that corner was a gravel pit, over the course of the night it was getting deeper and deeper, his back wheel dipped it and that threw him into the wall.

I never saw him dip a wheel in the gravel. When he came around that corner he was hugging the inside of the turn. Not the outside.

I think that when he let off the gas coming out of the turn the tires grabed and kicked the car around and aimed him right at the wall.

If he didn't have those high profile tires with donut wheels. He would of had more control of the car. I think they are part of the reason he lost it.

It's really unfortunate when things like this happen at the track, as a few people have posted - insurance won't cover it.
At least he had the sense to take it to a track, otherwise he'd be drifting around a maze of carts and lightposts in the wal-mart parking lot, being a danger to others and not just himself.

I guess props to him for being responsible.

i was getting tech'ed right before that and i asked about how many people crashed then BAM! crash! it sucks i spun out in the same area twice but just glad that i could control that shit. takes lots of practice! i have definitely learned the hard way before though haha

but i dunno how you guys were so close to the gravel i was always on the other side coming around :dunno:

and probably all the gravel that came out of his fenders afterwords would probably point to the pit too.

Having your arm outside the window doesn't seem like the best idea while your buddy is drifting around corners...

Werd, you could end up like the claw.

Hes also one hand drifting, maybe if he had both on the wheel this wouldn't have happened...

The E-brake in this car isn't good for anything but parking.

What I'm saying is he obviously initiated wayyy earlier than right there. He had good entries all day.

If you've ever drifted that section you would know that its super tight and e braking helps hold you sideways and correct yourself. He probably fixed the ebrake anyways, it takes like a half hour.

and how long ago was it that you owned this car???

I've never seen any of you guys ever out at the track, so stfu and go back to keyboard drifting and stop making comments about something that none of you know how to do.

And yeah his ebrake works fine, I guess you just werent trying hard enough.

I just sold the car in April you dumb shit. The guy who bought it from me had it for a month or so. He probably drove it for a week or so before he sold it to this guy. I talked to the guy who bought it from him at walt healy the same day he crashed around noon. He told me it was his first time out with it. Which would make sense because he just bought a helmet from walt healy for drifting.

I highly doubt he touched the e-brake or tightened the cable. The car had more than enough power to initiate a drift without it.

I guess you didn't go to the Lethbridge drift practice 2 years ago. Or the Calgary Practices last year. I had it out twice there too.

Maybe you should get your shit straight before you talk.

PS. I never claimed to be a Pro drifter.
