Man, I used to play TD all the time. That and Loderunner.

Played it on my 8086 with 640K ram and a 4 color CGA monitor.

Fuck I am old.

Then I moved onto Space Quest 1 and Police Quest 1. Oh yeah and don't forget Leisure suit Larry!

I also played TD on my 8086 - I must have been 3-4 at the time. Remember when you crashed the windshield would crack up?

Speaking of TD, the newest one, Unlimited was quite good!

Loderunner was an absolutely sweet game!

LOL ah the memories. That vid of TDII shows the pimped up version. I remember you had to buy add-ons, like cars and track packs. And those weren't cheap either! I also remember my cousin had an Amiga and TDI on that was awesome!!! The music sounded great and so did the car sounds, unlike the cheap pc speaker bleeps and blips.

I think the racing games I played the most in my lifetime are Stunts (that dude in the vid has serious skills -- that was a hard game!) and the original Need for Speed on 3DO.

Boy do I feel old.

Xtrema... PALLLLLEEEEAAAAAASSSSEEE This thread is about pre-3D, you young-un.

Stunts was definitely the best old game of all time. Carmaggeddon was SO advanced compared to it.

Me and my brother used to play the original Test Drive on our dads 286 for hours on end. Loved how the car would down shift through the gears as it pulled into the gas station.

32 bit, that's pretty high quality dude! I don't remember any voices in TD since both TD1 and 2 were released prior to the Adlib and Sound Blaster haha.

Anyone ever try using the manual shift option in TD? You essentially hit the gear shift button, then use your joystick to select which gear you wanted by positioning the joystick in the same position as what the gear shift would be in real life. Problem was you lost your steering ability for that moment, and you never could get the gear in the right spot.
