If so... Can I give you 20 bucks to sit on your car and see if I fit. I have a hard time fitting in alot of cars. And I have no way to see if I fit before I pursue purchaseing one, unless I pay someone!!! (I am tall...not fat)

LET ME KNOW!!

I'm going to take a wild guess here, but if you can fit in a regular Lancer, you can probably fit in the Evo. :dunno:

No the Lancer does not come with the Recaros that the EVO does. If you are obese, fat, or big boned you may have issues getting in and out because the seats have extreme bolstering on the VIII and IX's.

Got to Platinum and sit in an EVO X. If you can handle it you can probably handle the IX or VIII.

He said his issue is height. Unless you sit significantly higher up in the Evo it won't be a problem.

If Jeremy Clarkson can fit in one of them, i bet you can too; unless you are 7 feet tall!

Now legal or a bastardized version of illegal "no legal"?
If you are saying that the Evo 9's and such are still illegal, they are not.

I work at a dealership and inspect US cars all day long, maybe post a picture of this "riv sticker" as we have yet to see one.

Mine is legit and always was, thanks for asking.

Hey not flaming ya.......but if don't know what the RIV sticker looks like - upon completion of your Form 2 from RIV, they send you a door jamb label (and i've imported 5 cars now and they've all had the stickers)......

If this is the same car from Sask on Mitsunation who got the car plated by Sask Gov without the RIV paperwork, you can now simply run down on the other side of the border and get the paperwork straightened out.....if this is not the same white car, congrats on the IX!!:D

P.S. picture of RIV sticker is on this page near the bottom...for anyone who's curious....

Of course we don't have any US vehicle left here today so I can't even go look. But the last time I went through the lot, not a single one had that sticker. I will keep an eye out.

For anyone thinking of getting an EVO themselves, the worksheet in this link is quite helpful....

Don't forget the 6.1% duty, 5% gst on the EVO....among other things...you will need the daytimers added too....

http://dyckyj.googlepages.com/USCarImportCalculations.xls

There are deals to be had....part of me wants to get a couple more...

Edit, obviously remove the $2K for broker fee if you're doing it yourself...

I paid 31 for mine, but by the time I shipped it, paid the tax, had the inspection done (put new brake pads in that failed) I am over 34k. Mine is a mint MR low k, no mods, til i got it.

Yeah after working out how much it would cost I figured I may as well just get a new EVO X instead as it's more comfortable as a daily driver and IMO better looking.

You are in the minority as are the rest of the Subaru fanboys if you think any STi looks sexy. Even I admit that the no EVO looks sexy, but they aren't ugly and IMO 04-05 is the ugliest of an ugly series of WRX cars.

You can't get an MR with sunroof because MR's have aluminum roofs. My seats are leather with the center being suede, Recaro's of course.

Crymson
07-22-2008, 09:59 AM
That makes sense. So the difference between the GSR's and MR's would be A) no brembo brakes, b) no bilestein shocks and c) no fancy wheels?

ToastiER
07-22-2008, 10:21 AM
I have seen lower models with the Brembo's, not sure what makes no sense. They wanted to improve cornering (lower center of gravity) so they put an aluminum roof in. Why would you then add a sunroof and put even more weight back in.

6sp transmission would be the major difference
-17" 16lb bbs wheels
-aluminum roof
-bilstein shocks
-fancy gauges
-vortex generator

off the top of my head

NO ACD, NO 6-speed, no cruise control and .....gulp....not a single mod ( i lied, it has a car cover and a spare set of ENKEI wheels). It's a virgin........and i might get another one to add to the stable. It leads a pretty sheltered life but took it out on the highway the other day just to open it up a bit....another gear would've helped...

ToastiER
07-22-2008, 11:15 AM
Some 8's had ACD from what I have seen, no Evo until the X had cruise. I may add cruise to mine, it's a real hassle having that much power and no cruise. I drove it to Calgary and was constantly looking down and seeing 160kmh.

Mine desperately needs a tune since I have a TBE now, it seems quite rich.

which model is yours?

I've noticed that Evo IX MR models seem to come with a gauge cluster located beneath the radio (boost, temp, volt). Was this a factory or dealer installed option? This thread has some good info but is there a site that definitively lists all of the differences between the GSR, SE, and MR Evos just to clear up any confusion. I'm also in the hunt for an Evo VIII or IX, unfortunately I'm not too fond of the X.
