IF rx7 breaks down= $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
plus it is a lot older..so if you do a straight trade it's not that fair.

teg_boya

is it JDM?

IF it is, i wouldn't touch it with a 10'-11' pole

For sure it's a jdm. no one would trade a normal rx7 for a celica unless it was beat to shit.

I know your celica is slow and boring compared to the RX-7, but its reliable. JDM cars are beat to shit, this one is no different. I mean look at the ad, the guy is blaming the shitty paint on acid rain in Japan. It has shitty paint because it sat in a junkyard for years before being shipped to Canada.

This rx-7 will be one problem after another and you will wish you hung on your celica. Why would the other guy be so willing to swap to a less attractive, slower car with more kms unless there is something he isnt telling you.

don't do it. I have a 98 corolla and the thing has about the same milage as yours and it is one of the best cars i have ever had in terms of reliability. You will be kicking yourself later, esspecially since its rhd

the RX-7 will probably need a rebuild soon
plus I love the Feel of the celica

In terms of value, I'd say they are about the same and the rx7 is the better car in everyway if its in decent condition. But before even considering the trade, get the car checked out mechanically and make sure its in good condition.

you're an idiot
how is an RX-7 better in every way than a Celica GT if they're both in "great" condition?

Rx7's break often. Japanese cars get rolled back and sit in junk yards.

Sell the Celica and you'll have enough to import 4 RHD RX-7's

You can get 2001+ porsche 911's in the states for around 20-25k . If you want speed and smoothness...and dont mind repair costs, go buy one of those.

I vote to keep the toyota

celica is worth about the same as that car, i say do it  but be prepared to get into something that u have to have deep pockets for

You shouldn't own one of those cars if you can only own one car. Period. It'd be stupid to trade in your celica for this thing. Pure stupid. In fact you wouldn't even have come on here and asked if you knew in your gut it was a good deal.

Now, if you want a project car and can buy it outright and keep the car you have for a daily driver, then it's a whole different story.

Funny how I have never seen a new gen rx7 in the junkyard. All depends on how people treat them as well I'd done my maintance on it and kept it going for well over a year in summer driving. Sure it has a new paint job and the real reason is unknown but who gives a shit I've had a lot of people compliment the color since it's one of a kind so you can goto hell shift. Wouldn't ask 10 grand for a piece of shit that doesn't work. I see Rx7's everywhere going for at least 10-12 grand and that's your avg price and I have two friends with rx7's as well one done to balls which makes it sketchy and other which has a completely stock one as well and It hasn't shown him any grief as well. So go ahead and diss my ad I don't really give a shit but I wasn't the one that offered the celica or considered it a fair trade you through the offer in my ad. And what I noticed is you sent it every other car on this site as a trade.

stay away.....even if the car works perfect. My neighbor used to own a rx-7 and I always saw it broke. It's gonna break down in first three months and that single repair bill would set you back a grand.
Why not find a trade for rsx-s or maxima 6spd 2002??

likestuffandya
07-13-2008, 03:45 AM
i look at it this way, if i owned an rx-7 which ran as perfectly and reliably as a toyota or a honda (although fairly impractical) i would not trade it for the world,
practicality wise its about par with ur celica, seats four, hatch back,
but i've never heard anyone ever say they're toyota was unreliable
hey who knows maybe you'll get lucky and get one of the few reliable rx-7s out there, but i'm just saying, wouldn't trade it for the world

If you're planning to use the RX-7 as your daily driver then, no. Cars over 15 years old will have more problems and it's not like there's a Rotary expert at every Mazda dealer. This car is rare and you wouldn't want to run it to the ground if it's in great condition now.

Celica's are nice cars and you can't buy them new either now. So, in that sense it is a littel more rare as well.

If you could, keep the Celica and buy the RX-7 for summer. Unless you don't need a car in the winter and take transit most of the time.

Just because people regularly ASK $10-12k for an imported FD RX-7 doesn't make them WORTH $10-12k.

Just saying.

I highly doubt a Mazda dealership would sell cars with rotary engines and not have mechanics that can fix them. Even the RX8 have rotary engines.

anyone here wanna buy my celica or offer any trades?

I just want a car with 150+hp and lower kms than 17x,xxxkms

Rocky
07-14-2008, 10:48 AM
Go look at Integra's (GSR/Type R) if you want a mix of reliability and 150+ HP.

I don't want your Celica.

And RX-7's are garage queens, JDM RX-7's are abused whores, and I would bet 75% of RHD owners go back to LHD within about 2-3 years.

would it be a wise choice to stick with the car and mod it...How much longer do you think it can last?
