My TV has only 2 HD component inputs which I use for my cable box and for my Xbox. I want to get a new DVD player. Am I SOL on this one, or is there something I can do?

EDIT< I'm an idiot. But ya get a video switcher that would be the easiest and cheapest way. I know when i used to work at best buy we sold them.

A quick look at bestbuy.ca found this. (http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0926INGFS10086959&catid=21978#) Kind of pricey, but it would work.

Yikes, that thing is pricey! You look like you play a lot of games anyways, why not invest in an entry level home theatre package? The receiver will take care of all of your video input switching and you get the benefits of better sounds. There's a bunch around the $300 mark with a 5.1 setup included at BB.

If not, THIS (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=101&cp_id=10112&cs_id=1011201&p_id=3027&seq=1&format=2) from monoprice should help you out for less than $30.

For a DVD player, when I use HD components cabels the colour is off... I dunno maybe it's just my outputs :dunno:

I would just use regular RCA's man. You won't get a noticable difference with components unless it's an upscaling DVD player.

there is a huge difference between RCA and HD... i find the difference between component and HD too...

E46.. if your color is off you are putting the wrong cables in the whole hole...haha

And if it is up-scaling you'll need HMDI to take advantage of it anyway.

#1, don't listen to this guy.

#2, there is a large difference between composite and component (thats what they're called) even on plain jane non-upconverting dvd player.

#3 There are a number of TVs/Monitors and receivers that have an issue with component video where things come out too dark.. my samsung 22's with component do the same thing, rage2 had a thread about his sony amp which did the same thing as well.. that's the problem you're having.

#4 This will work fine and it's probably going to be the cheapest one you'll find, i've ordered from them a few times and it's been great products and great service.

I've had HD TV's since shortly after they came out in a Tube TV...You might see the slightest difference with components, but nothing I can notice. I use nothing but HDMI's.

BTW I know the OP well, outside of Beyond. So he can make his own decision whether or not to listen to me.

and I'm sure the cables do in fact make a difference, all I was saying is that it is not HUGE and IMO not that noticeable.
