They'll make sure it has a good flow rate too

Ask if there is a history for the well

Inquire about the septic,.. if it's a field or a tank

also type of construction for the tank

How often should the tank be emptied

etc,etc,.

any hospital or clinic can test the water for you, takes 2-3 weeks, then they send you a detailed report of everything thats in it. they're also the least expensive! Actual testing gets done at the university of alberta so you know they're doing a good job!

They'd probably do it for free in the SAIT Chemical Technology Department. I ran a couple of water samples from my parents well when I was taking classes. They'll toss it on the ICP and tell you what and how much for minerals there are. Thats the easiest way anyway.

You'll have to go elsewhere if you're looking for a fecal count though.

See if you can get a hold of Ian McKay, hes one of the good instructors.

^ Big Iron will test it as part of their quote package. They want to sell you all sorts of toys, but they won't know what you need until they test it.

well, nobody is perfect, but yeah, Big iron was great, and the guys that came out were awesome. guys came out and did a quick survey of the land, the rig that came out was cool, and since the planned on drilling where we wanted living space on the farm, they were cool with driving the trucks onto the lawn with plywood underneath the tires to minimize the ruts. they cleaned up everything, and installed the pump and filter system, as our water had a distinct sulphur smell and slight taste. after they were done, you didn't even know they were there, and the water tastes great and has no odor.

can't say enough good things about them.
