Hey, we got new computers at work here a few months ago, I was able to block some stuff on windows vista, but I want to be able to lock the user from accessing all files on the computer, block them from changing the background on the desktop, and block them from downloading anything at all.

Basically I want the user to be able to surf the internet and that is all.

Any tips?

Yeah, I did, but I didn't see any way to block downloads, and block access to folders or disable ability to change the desktop wallpaper.

I was only able to block individual sites. I was able to do this on older versions of windows, I'm not too good at navigating Vista.

I don't see that anywhere in the control panel.

You have a couple options.

Microsoft has a free program called SteadyState which is designed to do exactly what you are trying to do:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=d077a52d-93e9-4b02-bd95-9d770ccdb431

You can also try a shareware Kiosk program like this one:

Let me know if you need any help.
