So now that the Gen III MR2 AKA MR-S appears to be legal in Canada, think we'll see an influx of them? Are these even loved? ;)

Never been a big fan of the MR-S. I love the SW20 and the AW11... but not so much the MR-S

don't get me wrong.. they're not bad. I'd still drive one. I just prefer the sw20 and the aw11 still

I was looking into these myself today. But the fact is that a) Performance falls short of any expectations I would have and b) It DOES look kinda girly.

I do like that red one though Elenor.

I would defenitly rock a modded mrs like the one Eleanor posted they looks so much better with the hard top. but its true they dont come anywhere near the sw20 or aw11 performance or styling wise IMO.

Handling and acceleration they can best the AW11... They did a test on Top Gear LOL. Very light cars. But a mint AW11 is definitely tops in the aesthetics department. This car just doesn't seem to have looks that make it classic.

Also, I think they actually had a (poorly executed) sequential gear box for this car didn't they?

It's a more manly alternative to the mita but not a proper successor to previous gen MR2's IMO. Nothing wrong with it but nothing that makes it a 'must have' car outside of the fact that they will be rare up here.

I'm sure we'll see Redlyne_MR2 get one to complete his collection.

Personally, I wouldn't want to be the 1st person bringing one back because we all know how up to date those border guys are on rules. Until you see it added on the RIV list, I wouldn't try it. Unless you plan on leaving the car at the border for awhile.

I test drove one of these in Tuscon a long time ago. They're awesome handling and zippy but you need to get the revs into them. The dealership guy took me on the craziest road I've ever driven with sharp ups and downs and tight corners. Definitely put the car through its paces on it.

I've got no problems with it, girly or not it's still a decent little 2 seat roadster. What was the alternative in that price range, a Miata? In person they don't look bad at all, I've seen a few in the US and they didn't seem very common there either. This thing would dominate in AutoX and it only weighs 2200lbs to boot. It's too bad they didn't make a hardtop version though. Swap in a 2ZZ-GE and you're all set!

I've had the AW11 and the SW20.....I'd get one of these just to say i've had all 3 hehehe.

I htink it'll be fun to drive, but yes under powered from waht I understand.

The 2ZZ-GE with the right cams and full EMS would be quite fun, but the stock implementation by Toyota is complete garbage (except maybe the 2000-2001 Celicat GT-S with 6,000 RPM switchover and higher redline). The two that I drove had a overactive rev limiter right at redline and "lift" starting at 6,500+ RPM kills the fun and then you end up having only about 1,500 RPM of power and the remaining 6,500 RPMs of low horsepower and non-existant torque.

I rather have the 3S-GTE in it and have 200HP/200 ft/lbs stock right off the bat myself, but high revving engines can be fun.

^^ its not that though its the fact that you are a poser when you do that lol, looks cool but i mean your talking 60-65,000 for a vehicle with Ferrari good looks but no backbone to support it... i dunno never really been a fan of ferrari replicas whether it be on the mr2 or the mr-s... like here is the sw20 ferrari you can get lol..

I had a feeling you couldn't resist. How many vehicles do you have and how will you spread your time between them?

Ok so that kit is $5K plus shipping, install and paint. So maybe $7K if you do it the cheapest way. Maybe $6K if you did the install and paint yourself.
