So my girlfriend is trying to decide between these two cars. Which of the two would you choose and why?
I went to Country Hills Toyota yesterday (and got crap service - meaning no service) to take a look at the Yaris and I just checked out the showroom model and the interior is pretty basic, like disappointing basic. The exterior is a cute looking car for a girl though.
The 09 fit on the other hand which should be released come late Fall is a lot more sleeker now and the interior is fantastic.
In terms of where her money is spent, my opinion is on the Fit while hers is on the Yaris.

Which would be better in terms of comfort, aesthetic features, mileage etc for the money?

Any help would be appreciated!

i think a base corolla is in that price range too. another good option. especially after the redesign.

I don't think she would consider the corolla, even after the redesign. I admit, that it does look great, but in the end it's tough to expect anything else but mileage from the car. She's just not attrracted to it like she is to the Yaris and Fit.

What I mean is that she is interested in doing aftermarket upgrades, for one, I know the fit has plenty of things where as the yaris may be limited to my knowledge as is the corolla.

Is the Yaris RS version worth it? What about the Fit Sport? opposed to the lower trims

yaris kinda has a cheap tin can feel to it, i like the 07/08 fits i owned one :D havent seen the 09 fit yet in person and i work at a honda dealership :nut: i think u should look at a versa though, they`re good bang for buck.

Sorath is also basing his decisions on back seat volume.

Three 14yr-olds fit nicer in a fit, Sorath?

I have a 2008 Fit and its a great little car. Much more useable than the yaris for cargo volume and passenger transportation.

The Fit will have a better interior, more ''teen'' friendly features like mp3 conectivity.

The gauge cluster is in front of you...

It has all power features, a/c and cruise.

The only thing the Yaris is better for is milleage where it will be a bit better but not much.

I would look at the 2009 Fit and the 2008-09 Versa, not the Yaris.

It might look good from the outside from a girl`s point of view but you spend all your time inside the car anyways...

why don't you just wait until sept/oct for the 09 fit and let her decide?

09 fit for sure... . I am actually looking at getting one for myself, as the interior doesnt look like a $10,000 car, it actually looks quite nice, almost the same as the new civic, and after driving an 08 fit, I can imagine the 09 will drive similar and it was very nice.

Look into a Versa bro, I've always disliked it, but after driving it around, it really grows on you. Amazing leg room in the back, CVT transmission rocks too!

ive heard the cvt isnt that great, the manual however is good

What negative things have you heard about the CVT?

either way, the 6speed is nice too, the milage for the 6 speed and the cvt are close, but the cvt will accelerate faster than the 6. :hijack:

Yaris FTL :thumbsdow

I have one. Worst purchase ever. Terrible resale value. List goes on...

Wicked, thanks guys. I asked her about the Versa and she really dislikes the look of it. I don't think I'd consider it either, I guess everyone has different tastes.

It seems like the Fit is the way to go here.. I've only seen pictures of the interior of the Fit and I think it looks great. Agreed on that it looks similar to the new civics.

The Fit is going to get a whole new engine is it not?

Sorath, how much would a Fit Sport cost? MT... not sure what else. If you could ballpark it

Yaris FTW
29mpg in the city, 37 on the highway. Absolutely amazing reliability, much gutsier engine than the Fit, and a great looking car (pwns the Fit imo).
i can hook you and her up with an 08 Yaris if you like
i'll give you a very good deal at Heninger Toyota.

Oh wow two different views
The Yaris's interior really disappointed me though, I feel like they half assed it or even just put it all together quickly so that it could make it to the production line quick enough.

I love how it looks on the outside though.

Wife and I bought the Yaris a few weeks ago. The interior is cheap but effective. I like the three glove boxes and the two folding cup holders. We just got the base model with the convenience package and front deflector.

We had an Echo that we abused for 220k and the car was totally reliable and the center gauge cluster is great once you get used to it. The steering wheel never gets in the way and you do not have to move your eyes as much to scan the road.

Another thing to consider is you still get the eco rebate on the 08 models. I heard the program may be cancelled for the 09's.
