Cancun and Hurricanes in Late August?

Hey Guys,

I was planning a trip with a few buddies to Cancun - we are planning on leaving on August 17th. I know that hurricane season runs between a time of June and December, seems to be a pretty long stretch of time, and I cannot imagine that that entire duration is plauged by hurricanes.

Has anyone been in late august to Cancun or mexico with any problems?

There is one nearby as of right now, Hurricane Dolly, although I think it missed Cancun. You are always taking a chance going in Hurrican season, they cannot perdict how big and when or where they will hit, the risk is up to you. I know of people who got stranded in at Denver Intl. a week ago b/c of the Dolly system, 2-3 days in the airport. But the chances of another one hitting so soon again are slim, but possible. It is up to you, but good luck.

Haha I'm flying into Cancun on August 17 too. I'm a bit concerned, but not enough to really cancel.

i was in Cancun a couple years back for the last week of august and the weather was amazing... i think late august is fine

We are staying at the Temptations Resort (which I hear isn't the nicest but lots of young people and a high trip advisor rating) in Cancun

We leave Calgary at 4:25PM Sunwing!

Should be a good time!
