hey, so i live in an older neighbourhood (Parkland) and we have a fairly high/steap curb in front of our driveway. Some of the houses around ours have a ramp built right into the sidewalk by the city so that its not so tough to get up.

i was wondering how much it would cost to have this put in, or who we would need to call to find out.

thanks

311, if you're sure the City actually did those other ones.

im not 100 percent sure but i believe its illegal to change the sidewalk to your liking without atleast their approval first... isnt it not part of your property?

it's only illegal if someone complains.

my parents use EZ Drive by ecoflex. Couple of distributers around. The only time they move them is when the city is street cleaning. No other issues from bylaw.

This is the distributer they got them from.

Get a bag of cement, some gravel, an orange vest and a pick axe. No one will say anything to you if you look like a cement worker.

You could walk out in the middle of deer foot in rush hour and shut it down with an orange vest and a walkie talkie..

THAT would be entertaining to watch... not to clean up, however :P

Throw some orange cones onto the road first, once the pileup halts the traffic, THEN you can walk out there...

Just buy some white spray paint (thats what the city uses) and spraypaint off the area you want done. Maybe throw a couple of nails in the ground near the sides at the curb tie in and in the center (fake survey points). Then call the city (311) and tell them your driveway was supposed to be done a month ago, and its's all marked up.
Thats your best chance to get it done for free :D

lay a 2x6 or a 2x4 there.. if you really want to, have it cut at an angle that gives you a little ramp. cheaper than the piece of rubber, though i use both.

I have a similar situation. I gave 311 a call today and they gave me a range of how much it would cost to build one of these ramps.

3m wide ramp (for single garages)
$2800 - $3300

6m wide ramp (for double garages)
$4200 - $4900

9m wide ramp (for triple garages)
$5600 - $6500

I think I'll just stick with just getting into my garage at an angle.

call the city, 311 and u need to request a side walk like that, but u will be paying alot of $$$ for it. And if a private builder did it for u and the city saw it they will remove it and build a normal one and guess who gets the bill :) "you"
