How long did you let it "dry off" for?

Was the laptop completely de-powered or was it in "standby" mode with the lid closed when it got soaked?

Sounds like the mobo is fried. What kind of laptop is it?

+2 on the burnt motherboard but I'd strip down the mobo of its accessories (RAM, chip etc.) to make sure its the culprit as a fried accessory can do the same thing.

any idea where i can get that done and get it fixed? is it pricey?

does it still have warranty? i feel that if there's no warranty, repair is gonna cost a bomb. given the change of parts such as motherboard/ battery component. prob with that money you can get a cheaper better model from futureshop
