Here are the numbers: 2 seats only, 520 hp @ 6500 rpm, 440 lb.-ft. of torque all the way from 3200–5200 rpm, 3615 lbs., 'Ring laps quicker than 7:30, $130,000 MSRP, early 2009.

So the car will lose its back seat and enough other stuff to shed 200 pounds, will get an extra 40 advertised horses, cost almost twice as much as the current model and lap the Nordschleife faster than a Porsche 997 GT2. We had that number as low as 7:25 recently, which is just insane. We're guessing there will be enough people that will wait for this model to hit U.S. shores when it debuts in early 2009, but even more who will think they can duplicate the recipe for far fewer dollars and a regular old GT-R.

The only GTR to buy IMO.

If it really is 7:25 then the ZR1 had a short time in the top spot. Wonder when the official time will be released...

The GT-R launch is a farce. People putting down deposits, then having those deposits refunded and then told the new "market price" of the GT-R varying from $100,000 to $119,900. Not one person has been provided a VIN or tracking so they can see what the status of their vehicle is, etc. Hell, people don't even know what colour they are getting until it shows up at the dealer...

Worst launch ever.

For what it's worth, I don't think Nissan has ever had a launch as big as this one. It might just be because they're inexperienced at this sort of thing.

Doesn't stop it from being hurtbags though.

LOL, rich people.

You're complaining about $10k-$20k on the MSRP.

Wait till you see the cost of service! Cant wait to catch one of you "ballers" on video when you see the brake service cost/ basic maintence. Bring extra drawers.

I was going to say "give all the magazines cars that are actually representative of the ones sold to customers."

The huge drop in the GT-Rs performance numbers lately is interesting.. every magazine I've read has the GT-R's latest numbers at something like 12.5, 12.6.. normal for a car of its weight and power.. and the early tests have the quarter at 11.8

They are cheating to get all their numbers and build buzz.

Anyone who pays over MSRP is making a donation to the tooth fairy. There will be no resale market for these cars.. you are right, the Nissan dealers are a joke.

I'll buy a used one someday for 30k off of retail.. 16 year old fanboys do not keep the market strong for an 80k car or whatever it is.
