Has anyone purchased/stolen this from iTunes yet for their iPhone? Looks pretty cool but I haven't jumped on the iPhone bandwagon :P

Isn't it supposed to be free in a little while? I'll hold out..not like a I have a car worthy of a performance meter anymore :barf:

It only measures up to 1G, which isn't nearly enough for autocross on Rcomps.

When I get my car back I might try this one out... Problem is how do you secure an iphone so it doesn't move around AT ALL?

if your iphone has the invisible body skin (the one thats identical to 3M tape) then your phone shouldn't slide since theres alot of grip from it. mine never slides around in my dash

Do you need the 3G to get this?

I installed it last night along with the 2.0 software update. Something is screwed up right now because every time I click on it, it comes up and then disappears after 2 seconds. Same thing happens with another app I installed so I have to figure out what's going on.

But you do need 2.0 right? I'm still at 1.1.2 cause I've been too lazy to look up how to jailbreak all the way to 1.1.5.
Seems kind of... fake to me haha

You have got to keep the thing completely steady and secured in the car for it to work properly. I was having a hard time getting it to work in my friends car yesterday (mine is in the shop). but we finally got somthing rigged up.

I've been watching this thread for months now to see if they'll get their own FREE version up and running.

sounds like a cool app i want to get it for my iphone. So like someone else asked, is it okay to use it if you just put it in a pocket or does it actually need to be sitting somewhere on the car?

I'm pretty sure for it to be accurate it should sit in the car on a solid level surface just like the g-tech. Hopefully less of a pain to set up than the original g-tech.

After 4hours of trying to get this bitch to work on my 2.1 Jailbroken ipod touch. (downloaded dynolicious off google)

I have figured it out.

it said i had 939HP =) haha

anyways, i'll try it in a car soon

if anyone wants to know how to jailbreak their ipod or get this program on their ipod, pm me. I'll help you out

Just grabbed an ipod touch just so that I can run this thing... and it's AWESOME!!! Comparing the results to my known good timeslips from RaceCity, it's pretty consistent with 2.5~3.0 60' times (dependent on my tire slip), 1/8mi around 11s and 1/4mi of mid 16's to mid 17's.

Guessing my curb weight to be 3200lbs (2800lbs + 400lbs (me + passenger + gas)) my peak HP was 145~160 HP. I had entered 20% as drive train loss

Go fast mods are:
CA18DET
Hallman MBC set to 0.70 kg/cm2 (9.96 psi)
3" downpipe
Apexi Cone filter

Searching for some stock dyno charts on google, they were mostly reading ~150hp peak stock, given our altitude my 145~160hp seems within reason, and actual on road hp should be lower than on dyno due to wind resistance.

Anyone know if the peak HP given is supposed to be at the wheel or at the flywheel?? :dunno:

That's the key... dial in your car's weight plus your weight plus how much gas you have in the tank. You can figure it out if you know how many liters are in the tank or close to it, then simple math on the weight.

20% drive train loss is about right.

The peak HP is at the rear wheels. If you want to know the flywheel peak hp, set the drivetrain loss to 0%. That would tell you what power you're running at the flywheel.

I did a test on my winter car today and I think it's close. I got 97hp at the wheels (winter tires). Specs state that the engine is 120hp. So without the 20% drivetrain loss that I entered, it would bring me to 116.4hp. New oil, air filter, no rocks or slush on the road and I should get that 4.6hp back or close to it. The car also has over 300K kms so you would expect the compression to be a little less.

All in all, I can go on with excuses like anyone. But I think this thing is accurate based on my test. Not sure how well it can pick up mod differences like new intake or new exhust.

I used dynolicious when I was taking off the runway to goto vegas.

It said the plane had 144hp :burnout:

To get an accurate measurement. You'll need to get the correct weight of the plane. It calculates HP from velocity, acceleration and vehicle weight.

This should help people understand how to get a better reading, even if it is for the Gtech.

AHAHAHHAH that's awesome

Import Tuner magazine just did a comparo of Dynolicious vs a real Dyno/1/8th mile strip and they said it's "plausible" in there January 09 Issue

Test car was a 2008 Scion xB (supercharged)

The horsepower was off by 17% (175whp Dynolicious 210whp Dynojet dynamometer)
The 1/8th mile time was off by 2.5% (10.45sec Dynolicious 10.72sec real time)
The Trap Speed was off by 3.4% (73.1mph Dynolicious and 75.7mph real speed)

So not counting the horespower figures the 1/8th mile time and speed is pretty accurate.
