Alright! I need your help. I'm looking at purchasing this combo at FS for $2199

The LG 47" 1080P 120Hz 47LG70 (http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0770HDS0010104984&catid=) and LG 1000 Watt 5-Disc Home Theatre System (http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?sku_id=0665000fs10100466)

The salesman is willing to sell me this TV Stand (http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0770HDS0010086976&catid=) for $260

Give me $50 off this
Shaw PVR (http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0665000FS10078936&catid=)

and sell me the 4 yr PSP for $329 (which I know I can just return)

Do you guys think it's a good deal? Anybody have that TV?

not a fan of LG tv's

and get a real home theatre system man, an amp with decent input/outputs, 5 speakers and a powered sub

try visions, if you buy a tv you can talk the onkyo HT package down to very cheap, and i bet it sounds much better then that LG HT in a box crap

ditto for me too on the LG's....stay away. If you want a good LCD stick with Sony, Sharp and Samsung. If you want a plasma, go for Panasonic. Just my opinion especially if your spending that much dough. As far as the deal goes, it's not bad, you get a pretty decent discount from the guy.

the xbr4's and even the older lnt4669 looks better then a LG. when shopping for tv's none of the LG's looked good on display

they don't carry LG's flagship line here, and with those prices no one would buy one

don't know how that HT in a box can be decent, i guess for 200 bux but then the tv would be over priced at 2k

by all means buy one, take some pics and let us know how good it looks.

LG is a fine make. But Sony and Samsung are highest rated for a reason. The LG home theatre, like any Home Theatre in a Box, is going to be convenient and sound good but never sound great.

For that money, I would get a Samsung 5 series (530 most places, 550 at FS as their exclusive version which isn't very different at all). This TV is available in 46", has 3 HDMI inputs, an excellent picture with great overall brightness, and 1080p. You could couple it with a Samsung sound setup as well and definitely get it around the 2200 mark. You forgo the 120hz at this price but in all honesty it's a better TV and 120hz isn't worth sacrificing picture quality for.

Home theatre wise, get yourself a real setup if you can sneak it under your budget -- it's well worth the investment, at least if you care about a really good aural experience. Receiver, speakers, much better than just a HTIB.

But it's your call. I work at Visions [in Edmonton] and this is me just speaking on my experience and honest opinion. If you have any questions feel free to PM me.

PS: People say the "Three S's" for Sony, Samsung, and Sharp, but in all truth Sharp isn't near the quality of the former two these days. They'll still make a good TV, like any of the brandnames, but if you want quality for your cash then go with the TWO S's.

PPS: It pays to shop around. I wanted a particular package and FS guy quoted me 2000 pre tax as "lowest he could go" and then I ended up paying 1500 including tax at Visions -- which actually still was a fairly profitable purchase for them, I later found out :p
