Car left the lot in July ’99 as a 2000 model. Bought the car Dec 2004 with 124,000km from Hotwheels Auto (yeah I know). Of course I didn’t know their rep when I did this, and the car crapped out on me after about a month. I replaced the ignitor, ignition coil, distributor, distributor cap, rotor, spark plugs, wires, and battery, and then she ran like new!
Since I have owned it I have used Castrol Syntec and OEM filters for all my oil changes. I have replaced the clutch and flywheel (OEM), timing belt & water pump (OEM), hood latch, rear brakes and pads (Brembo blanks and Hawk pads), radiator (Auto Value brand) and clutch master cylinder (OEM). I have all the receipts from work I’ve done as well as the mileage from when it was done.
Unfortunately about 1.5 years ago, I lost control of my vehicle and hit a guardrail on Crowchild, destroying the front bumper hood, rad support, and passenger fender and inner fender. I also slightly damaged my passenger door and scratched it. I replaced everything including the inner fender and rad support which were welded on. Only the passenger door remains damaged as well as all the scratches.
The bad :
Hood cable appears to be shot and needs to be rerun. Basically I have a hard time closing the hood because the cable doesn’t return to the closed position. I replaced the latch hoping this would help but it did nothing.
AC doesn’t work. Not sure why and worked before the accident – I obviously damaged it somehow. I never used it much before it broke so I never pressure tested the system or anything to try and get it fixed.
Numerous rock chips on the car are beginning to rust, and there is surface rust on the rear hatch and bottom of passenger A pillar which do not come from rock chips.
Coolant reservoir has a pinhole leak halfway up, never been a problem for me. If you overfill it though it starts dripping until the level reaches below the leak.
Basically the car needs some exterior TLC.
The good :
This car would be ideal for someone who wants to mod the car from stock.
The interior is in very good condition, aside from wear and tear on the driver’s side bolster. I’m usually by myself so the passenger seat and rear seats are in top shape.
Engine is strong still and still gets me 27-29 mpg in the city. Burns a little oil as the VTEC B series do.
Car is fun to drive and the transmission and clutch are still tight.
Light tint on all 5 windows.
Have winter and summer tires on 7 GSR blades. I bent 1 rim in the accident but the buyer can see if they can repair it. For now I swap tires on one wheel only. Tires are Yokohama ES100 and Michelin Pilot Alpin. All with 80% tread.
Some random spare parts to go with the car like a brand new headlight, another silver door, and a set of amber corners. Buyer can also take the rear wiper assembly.
