I think Auto is better no? Who wants a standard in a wimpy 200HP Honda?

Auto is way more reliable.

98% of the people on here prefer standard.

With this car it's the complete opposite. An automatic Prelude rivals a base civic for acceleration and the transmission is notoriously unreliable.

Who cares about acceleration, its a Honda.

I don't believe that the auto is unreliable...LOL

You have proof?

You have proof that is reliable? Like you said in an earlier post.

Yes, 137K and 10 years later the car runs, drives and shifts gears as good as day one.

ill set this straight. the SS tranny is REALLY unreliable when it is used as a manual, using the Sportshift kills the tranny, however, if it has always just been driven as an auto than it should be fine. It is also VERY parasitic, taking around 30 HP and it is not meant for sport driving, rather commuting.

here is one persons experience:

Unfortunately, this transmission is known to break down easily. Honda even extended the warranty for the automatic transmission to 7 years or 100,000 miles for the 2000/2001 Preludes. At 90000 KM, only a few months after I bought my used Prelude, my transmission began flaring and clunking into gears.

Like I said, it runs perfect!

It has been female driven from day one. I don't consider it to be a "sports" car, but more of a fun daily driver.

For the kids that want a standard, why? So you can replace a clutch every 2 years?

Its not a race car. Its a measly 200HP Honda.

Oh, the car also has all service records from day one.

Nobody needs a reliable, well maintained, daily driver? Perfect car for a girl.

You shouldn't be saying that, you're killing the dreams of the kids who want to buy this!!!

you should be saying something like "This is a 200HP beast!!! almost as fast as my G35!!!!"

some kid would grab it in a sec!

But now to a question:

Is this full Auto, or tiptronic auto?

LOL, I'm not a salesman, so bullshitting is not my forté.

It has the sportshift (manual) mode, but I don't see the use for it, I know its never been used in this car.

He is absolutely correct on that unfortunately. If maintained and driven easy it lasts but as soon as you use all of the gas pedal and use the sportshift mode with any regularity they are notorious for falling apart in no time flat. Very well documented issue with the prelude.

That being said, if someone still treats it well it should last a long time and also, a 5 speed swap isn't out of line and that's a beautiful condition low-miled specimen.

Well this car is proof that its very reliable and has been for 10 years.

Excuse my ignorance, but what exactly does this mean? I tend to interpret it as overdue oil changes, low tire pressures, and a wash bi-yearly. :dunno:

lol female driven. Well maintained > female driven. But the price is good actually.

Oh, it also has logs for all service dates from Honda on time, all the time since day one.

The female part was for, not rat bagged on like 99% of all men would do with a vehicle.

You guys stop hating on this guys thread.

I've owned a 97 and a 00 Lude, know the cars inside and out.

The Automatic Tranny's in the car are hit and miss. If the owner took care of the sport shift tranny (not bagging, shifting hard, driving in auto mode), the tranny is good for over 200xxx kms. I have had 3 friends with Auto's who still to this day havent had a problems (over 150xxx kms).

By the looks of the pictures, the car is in very good shape, I wouldnt worry too much about the tranny unless you notice something while test driving it. The asking price is more than fair!

Its a perfect car for a girl, its cute and feminine, has a little pep, good on gas, perfectly maintained. The car has been detailed inside and out, garaged all the time, what else could you ask for in a daily driver?

Oh, and for all the dumbies who keep talking about the Auto, it works like the day it rolled off the assembly line, PERFECT. ZERO problems!!! You are more then welcomed to have a full inspection done at your local Honda dealership, at your expense of course.

Make me an offer.

The car has to go, not enough room in the garage for 3 vehicles.
