Posting for a friend:

Nikon 300/4 AF-S

I bought this lens myself originally from someone off of Nikonians in the states, then shortly after my friend got interested in photography and liked the lens so I sold it to him and bought a new one for myself. He used the lens ~3 times and decided he does not use it enough to warrant keeping it. Here is some info:

- Includes a Kirk Enterprises Arca-Swiss style lens plate ($55 USD+Shipping+Tax value)

- Originally a USA lens
- Newest version with AF-S and a built in lens hood
- Both caps and original carry case
- Glass in perfect condition
- Some cosmetic scuffs (NOT a result of bring dropped/bumped, finish just rubbed off in some places and the picture shows the worst of it). The white marks are factory markings on the lens, not damage, incase anyone was wondering.

New cost at The Camera Store inc. GST: $1207.45. B&H price is almost identical but will also include shipping.

$750

Next for sale is my friend's Nikon AF-S VR 55-200 f4-5.6. He has decided to go the 18-200VR route and will no longer be needing this lens either.

- As new condition, and includes a polarizer
- Canadian lens bought new at The Camera Store

New price at The Camera Store: $275.50 + Polarizer

$240 With polarizer
$220 Without polarizer

If you have any questions you can post them here or PM me, or if you have a serious inquiry you can call him directly, his name is Greg 403-701-5682

Thanks for looking!

 Don't forget the 300/4 makes an incredible macro lens (Even better with extension tubes), can be used with the 1.4 TC with no noticable image degredation, and also works very well with the 1.7 TC.

I take it that 300/4 won't come with the standard Nikon 5 year Canadian warranty, right?

Nikon warranties are non-transferable, you would have to get the original invoice from the original buyer and pretend to be him/her to get warranty work.

Thats right - no warranty. It is probably the cheapest 300/4 you will find for sale though. My friend is just selling it to fund a 18-200VR and be done with it. If you are interested and need more pictures or something of the lens just let me know. It's a pretty simple lens, not much that can really go wrong with it other than the AF-S motor which is working perfectly and quietly.

is it the SWM focus motor version or the older focus motor?

If you're referring to the 300/4, it is the newest version available with the SWM (AF-S) motor. It focus extremely fast, and is in completely different league than the regular consumer lenses. The older one didn't have a focus motor period.

If you're referring to the 55-200VR, it has a "micro motor" and does not have a true SWM motor in it, but it is AF-S. I've used it though and it's just fine for most applications, its hard to tell it isn't one of the better motors.

The one in your link does not have Vibration Reduction, and if memory serves me is not quite as good optically as the newer version with VR. Let me know if you have any other questions.
