Hey, I'm new to this forum. So I'm 15, but I've been looking at cars alot lately and been getting really into it. A opportunity popped up today where I could buy my friends car.

Its a 1991 Acura Integra.
Here is a quick list of mods that have been done on the car:

Red Viper Paint
17" rims
headlights
taillights
JDM B16A motor
engine paint
DC sports header
ractive high flo cat
cat back exhaust
short ram intake
GR2 gas shocks
ractive coilovers
VAFC 2
momo shifter
front strut tower stabilizer bar
new brakes
new radiator
alot of new suspension stuff

It does need a little bit of work though. A few things he said were new wheel bearings, new door handle, new power door locks. I'm sure theres more but I havent had a chance to talk to him about it yet.

Hes offering the car to me for $6000. This is my first car of course, so I'm asking, should I buy this? Or wait for something else?

I have a bunch more pictures on my phone but I cant get them to upload to my computer, so these will have to do for now.

Price seems high for what you're getting.

A 1st generation b16a with an integra chassis weighing it down will be dissapointing. It also appears to be an eastern car, they tend to have alot more problems with rust and oxidation than a car from out west.

I'd pass on it, it doesn't seem like much of an opportunity for anyone but him.

thats alot of money for a 17 year old car.

I think theres about 200,000 km's, but most of them are from the old engine.

What would you say a more reasonable price for the car would be?

The fact is that it is a 17 year old car. No way is that worth $6,000. It is nice that he has all that stuff into the car.

I'd offer him $3,000

I would need to have a walk around the car to tell yah.... its really too hard to say.

Lets put it this way. i wouldn't look twice at it even if it was listed $4,000

It does seem like a lot for that car. It's too bad he swapped out a decent torque engine like the B18A out for a smaller B16A engine in a heavier car like the Integra....it won't be very fast. I'd also lose those tail lights.

Would be worth it for a couple grand less imo.

:werd: what everyone else says, tell him he can keep the rims and Beyond style him with $2,000 (again, without rims)

Plus you're in Ontario, cars like that dime a dozen. He's asking Alberta prices.

Good luck kiddo, keep us posted.

I think you should just save up more and get a newer car.

You can find a stock and fairly maintained 2000 or + civic with about 150k km in Ontario. Your friend is making good penny off of you...:dunno:

Better see how much you'll have to pay for insurance before you get too far ahead of yourself.

i would not buy, even for 3000 dollars. You'll be much more satisfied with a newer car in that price range. You can get a newer integra for that money. It's good you're asking for advice, if i was 15 i'd probably want to jump on it too. Out of convenience (because he's your friend) and it's pretty much there asking you to take it. But be patient.

I'd also wait -- it looks nice, but that's a lot of money for a '91 car of no particular rarity. Maybe go to a local junkyard and see if they have a complete car or something for cheap; I've seen some pretty sharp (if slow) cars at those.

Another word of advice: Don't buy used cars from your friends.

Along with what everyone else said, maybe take into consideration that if anything else does go wrong, you might feel that your friend screwed you.

Just for comparison's sake I sold my 1993 Black GS-R which is arguably the cream of the G2 crop for less than 4K.

It was also unmolested.

There's no way that the '91 pictured in the OP is a $6000 car.

If you look around you can get a 98-99 Integra with less KM's for around the same amount.

you wanna avoid buying car from friends. mostly friends that ask way more than he can get out in the market

second. buy a stock car, and do the mods yourself. you'll feel and appreciate what each mod does to your car.

and third.... senators and leafs suck

hahah.. good luck with your first car.

Old engine was probably beat to shit so there is no saying that it's better or worse then what he had. I wouldn't buy it because it's molested and he lists engine paint as a mod.

He swapped the engine without replacing the clutch?

Thats going to be on it last legs for sure. ~700$ at least

CV boots - do them at the same time as the clutch ~300$

What kind of paint?
Cheap acrylic or something decent that includes a clear coat?

If its got AC, its probably dead by now.

Those rims & tires are going to pummel you to death on Edmonton roads - 16" wouldve been much better.

Lots of cosmetic/performance mods - little in the way of maintenance upkeep based on original post.

In sort - stay away and let the market decide first if 5k is a price they will pay.

You're right, that's pretty ambiguous. I can see how you could still be confused as to what we're recommending.
