Looking for an onion ring connaisseur.

Preferably, a downtown/beltline location. A&W will not suffice.

Really?IMO they have too much onion ring batter and not enough onion and they taste bready....I was gonna suggest A & W but since u said no, my vote goes to Boogie Burgers onion rings, they also have fantastic spicy fries

I think it is Chili's that actually give you a whole onion thats pre-cut into "onion petals" and battered then deepfried....but I could be wrong...

Not quite in Calgary... But

http://www.wiktel.com/menus/farmerdell/

Best Onion Rings ever, fresh and handmade. only place in Calgary I know that handmakes is TopDog on 17th.

Got stuck in Argyle MN during a flood, returning from a race in Chicago.

Had to order the onion rings, on the menu it say 6" or 12"
WTF?

Order arrives on a paper towel holder, 6" high or 12" high! Classic!

Best rings ever though.

Just outside of Walt Healy Motorcycle. The burgers are a little smaller than Rocky's, but WAY jucier.

For onion rings either Peters Drive In or CB's Drive Thru.

For something like it, onion bloom at either Chili's or Tony Roma's. Fucking kick ass.

I went there after the lunch rush today, and paid $10.50 for 12 onion rings, somewhat stale fries, and a dry burger. :barf:
I don't think I'll be back.

Peter's rings are frozen mccain ones arent they?

Anyways, they have nothing on A&W's.

They're really easy to make at home from scratch, I am pretty sure the batter mix is very basic, some are fancier and have beer etc... in them. There is also a batter mix you can buy for making tempura at most grocery stores and it tasts awesome on onions, plus you can cut them as thick or thin as you like. We usually eat them one by one as they are ready and cool enough to handle.

Just put some oil in a deep frying pan and off you go! Just don't set the stove on fire.
The Vidallia or Walla Walla onions taste best.

Looks like we will have to open up an onion ring hut!

So far the only place that makes their own, doesn't make them very well.

Every other place on this thread is using frozen ones.

Maybe we will have to have an onion ring cookoff!

I am leaving for a race in Chicago next week, anyone want to come along and we'll stop in Minnesota for onion rings! Could always use a couple of crew guys as well.

Cheers
