Hey all,

I've inherited a boat, an old 70ish lund that is very heavy. It has an old 50 HP Mariner (same a a Mercury I think) on it. It has trouble getting out of the water and planing unless all passengers are at the very front of the boat. It's pretty sluggish and has trouble pumping water at lower RPMs. It hasn't been run in 3-5 years.

My question is, where is a good place around the Calgary area to get it serviced? The father in law helped me get it going at least and since I'm no that handy with two stroke engines, it would be best to get in looked at. Plus, the water pump likely needs to be replaced or at least looked at.

This is my first boat, so any help is really apprecited. I don't know any places that service mercury's. Thanks.

Yeah I heard about Nanton (alberta marine) but I live on a acreage way in the NE end of Calgary and Nanton is a bit far. Was hoping there was something closer.

Get an online manual from http://www.marineengine.com/manuals/seloc/seloc_online.html

I rebuilt a 2 stroke 15 horse power motor without knowing shit. It was quite easy. The water pump is super easy.

Order all your parts from http://www.marinemanifold.com/

They're quite awesome.

If you know 4 stroke engines, then you already know 2 stroke, they are WAY easier.

renfrew and mobius marine are the two boat shops I can think of, call ahead though to see if they will even service your boat. cheers
