First you have to roll it to the top of a big hill, then.......

actually, civics are really fun to drive, but most honda's that are lacking dohc + vtec are not that fast to start with. Any honda can become fast with lots's of money spend on turbo/super charger, but suspension/tire upgrades will probably help you be faster on a road coarse. a Cold air intake is probably the cheapest way of getting power for not too much money.

what's dohc + vtec?

dual over head cam + Variable Timing and Lift Electronic Control System. Here's a description: http://www.nsxprime.com/FAQ/Technical/VTEC.htm

I take it that the civics that come with dohc/vtec are very expensive? I can afford a car that costs up to 14 or 15 grand. What car would you reccommend i look for? It's not like i JUST want a civic.. any suggestions are appreciated

Hehehe, I know a 'cheap' GSR... See my post:
http://forums.beyond.ca/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2219

Not so sure about SiR, I've seen them still going for around 23-24000.

I'd suggest a used Si. Sohc, but at least you got Vtec. Or GS/LS Tegs, DOHC but no Vtec. So I guess its one or the other...

well it looks like hes from St.charles, Il..i take it as Illinios?
but whatever if he has 14-15grand its probably in US. so im thinking he could pick up an SiR or something along those lines...

Ferio_vti

Oh, nevermind. You can't get SiR in the USA....
14-15G's US. Go buy yourself a GSR or Si.

Thanks Lammer

GSR= top of the line lets just say for the Acura Integra if im correct
im not sur eon how much HP but i know its has the highest number
and SiR only comes in Canada as Ferio mentioned.
in the states they call it Si.
Si would be the top of the line model for the Honda Civic..power features i presume and highest number of HP

Are Integra GSR's generally expensive??? like decent ones

But also that means he's got $13k american to spend.
That's about $20k canadian.
For that price range, you could easily get a 4th gen Prelude SRV, or Civic Si (SiR in Canada), or a GSR.
But if I had that much money to spend, I would automatically rule out the Civic (no offense to Civic owners). I think the GSR or Prelude would be a very good choice in that price range. Do some research, read up on all cars, and see what appeals to you most.:thumbsup:

Ahhh, good choice! I would recommend a used Pontiac Trans-Am before a Camaro though. They are cheap, but really fast! :)

From the sounds of it, you haven't done a lot of research on the different hondas / acuras available. I'd advise you to read the reviews on sites such as http://www.edmunds.com/ and see what they have to say about each one.

As far as vehicles go, I used to own a 94 Civic Si. It was a great car, but typical mods didn't do a lot to the speed, unlike turbo cars. I had intake, header, exhaust, springs, wheels, strut bar, and mad sound.

You have to figure out your priorities. Here's where you have to re-order the list:
- Speed (Stock)
- Upgradability
- Reliability
- Handling
- Fuel efficiency
- Price
- Resell value

Other things to consider:
- Forced induction vs. NA (Naturally Aspirated or no turbo / supercharger)
- High RPM power or Low RPM torque
- 2 door / 4 door
- Coupe / hatch
- 2 seat / 4-5 seat
- Your budget

Once you have determined these points, it will help you narrow down your options.

GSR was the top of the line, until the TypeR was born. The sweetest 4banger ever freakin' made.

Check out http://carpoint.msn.com/homepage/default.asp and click on used cars.
You can find all that you need to know there. Even gives a general price range.

in terms of bang for ur buck, GSR and SiR r the best. B16's (SiR) cost about $4000 - $4500. B18C's (GS-R) run about $5600 - $6000.

I don't think there's much of a point in getting a Type-R engine (except for the novelty) because it costs $8000+.

i don't think it's worth the extra 3g's.

It is totally worth it for a ITR engine. think for all the money you have to spend to get a GSR engine to the power level of a ITR engine. (all n/a power)

Manifold = $500
cams = $500
ECU upgrade = $500
Cam gears = $400
Valve spring= $400
retainers= $400
LSD = $1000
Gears = $1000
TB = $500
I/h/e = $2000
plus tuning or just buy the stock engine and drop it in! :nut: :dunno:

I completely agree with this, don't get a nice car as your first. You'll end up ricing it out anyways (happens to all of us). Once you get some miles under your belt, buy a faster car...
