iphone problems / Freezing up ?

hey, my dad got the iphone. and is having problems with it.
on many calls, after he gets off the call, the screen is black. and pressing the screen does nothing.
Pressing the home button does nothing as well. only way to use the phone again is to actually reset the phone
top button - and the home button for 10 seconds.
we got the newest software on the phone.
its about 2 weeks old.
also....if the phone has been sitting for a while, and then try and use it. it would freeze up as well....and the only thing we could do is reset the phone.

any one else experience this?
or have any idea what to do...

try restoring the phone on itunes:dunno:

i did the restore on itunes. yesterday....and still..like 4-5 times froze up again.

That's not right, see if you can take it back and get another one. I've had mine for about 3 weeks now and had a plethora of safari crashes, around 3 complete freezes where the iphone would reboot itself but nothing to the extent of what your dad is experiencing.
