Just got hired at Sport Chek, market mall, wondering if anyone on here works there?

I worked at sport chek at chinook center a couple years ago, good money but it was hurtin, every body hated each other, commission can make things nasty. You can make huge money selling winter coats though. What are you doing there?

It's not about winter coats, it's about selling skis before christmas. Who are the current managers at Marketmall? I worked at the chek for a year and a half. My managers Mark, Geoff, Jeff, Ryan and Melissa all moved to Market Mall but I dont' know who's still there!

I workd their for 4 shifts, then quit. I thought it suckd big time, so do alot of people that i know who have workd their. I too workd snowboards, skis and hockey.

People either love it or hate it depending on if they can sell stuff. Personally, i loved it becuase I knew my shit and could sell $5000 in a 5 hour shift on a good day around christmas. You also have tons of days where you only sell $600 on a 5 hour shift but over all I'd guess I was making $10-$20/hr on most weeks. Around christmas or a good ski season I was making much more. i built bikes for these assholes, it was based on how much you build... it was ok, but you made fuck all cuz the real techs woudl give us shit for doing a crappy job, even though i never build a bike in my life before and all i had fr guidance was some shitty instructions,

well tonight wasnt too bad. Just a demo of skis with all hardware people. Havent really been into sales before, so Ill see how it goes for a couple weeks, cuz any job is better than no job. Got shit to pay. ChrisW, i pmd you about your jersey.

:werd: I worked at the one in Richmond. Made a lot of money selling Columbia Titanium jackets for around $400 each. Also, even if someone was really friendly with you, when it came to sales, it's every man or woman for themselves.

I'm not sure if this happens at every sport chek, but some nights they'd make us do this shit called clean-up crew. It would last about 5 hrs. or more, and they wouldn't pay us for it. They said it was voluntary, but they would still schedule us for it, and give people shit for not showing up. :rolleyes:

Yes, that's the reason why I quit, longest I had to stay was 2 hours I think, I was making good money but hated the idea of doing 'volunteer' cleanup.

i dont mind working there i guess i just like retail positions, its always a challenge trying to get somebody to buy something from you, so you're always thinking, and time goes by fast. a lot of people dont think so but deerfoot is actually a decent place because everyone comes looking for deals

I worked it the Sunridge store for 4 yrs..........If you know your stuff you can make a crap load of cash during peak times...(Christmas, Hockey +, ect)......I outlasted most of the managers there and I basically worked with all of them...so if you need any info I basically have done it all
