Is your md player on? is it sending a signal to your comp? The open md software sucks, its so confusing...keep trying man..if not reinstall

I have it on my wife's computer and she has no problems with it (under 2000 tho). There has been a patch or 2 - have you gotten the latest bleeding edge version from Sony (or whatever website it is published under)?

i abandoned open MG... install it (with it not detecting) and then install RealOne, and add Sony device... it will detect it, and you wont have to use that aggrivating 'check out'

i did that on my Xp, and have had no problems. I have also NOT found ANY other way to do it...

any other MD questions pm me... i went through absolute HELL to get mine going properly! but now i love it... one battery lasts me 2 months!

:edit:

I also have to use an AC adapter on my MD player when hooked to my PC, for some reason it shuts off when connected as well

i think that you have to go into the control panel, system and click on device manager under hardware. then look for a symbol with a little red x on it. then delete or uninstall that then restart your comp.

You can also check this site out:

This guy developed a program called M3U2SB. It converts your MP3s into a CD image and then mounts it so you can use Simple Burner to copy the songs. It's not as fast as RealOne but it's worth checking out.

Yeah, I was gonna mention that RealOne kind of incorporates that check in/ check out business when you copy your files. This means the tracks are protected on your MD so you have to use your computer to erase them which can become a hassle. M3U2SB and RealOne both have their pros and cons, so play around with them and see what you like. I'm assuming they're both better than OpenMG. In fact, I've had my MD for almost a year and I've never even used OpenMG.

Download Sonic Stage 1.5 from Emule or something, works great. It's nothing new, just a re-skinned version of OpenMG with a simpler interface.

It looks similar to this, just with a gray/black color scheme. This screenshot of my desktop is Sonic Stage 2.0, an unreleased version which will be released with the upcoming Hi-MD units. The greatest thing about this version is that it has unlimited checkouts. Pretty hard to get ahold of this version right now, even if you do get it, it has to be hacked and stuff.

after you connect your md player with the usb cables to the computer, try pushing the stop botton a few times, because my computer doesnt detect the player either unless i push the stop botton a few times.
