FYI: http://www.calgary.ctv.ca/servlet/an/local/CTVNews/20080819/CGY_gas_080819/20080819/?hub=CalgaryHome

The news says:As many as 90 stations have seen their shipments stop completely and have closed their pumps.

Some independent retailers also rely on Petro-Canada fuel are also feeling the shortage.

A Fas-Gas station in the city's northwest hasn't had a fuel delivery in days.

Does it mean PetroCan use its own gas? I've heard another story says:

There are only refineries in Edmonton and all petroleum products are sent through a shared pipe line to Calgary. In Calgary, there are only two transfer terminals located just off of Barlow about a mile south of Glenmore Trail, and all service stations pickup petroleum products at these terminals. All fuels in Calgary come from the common pipeline and are of the same identical quality. If you buy from Esso, Husky, or Peto-Can...you get the same fuel...

Now I'm getting :nut: and :werd:

The Petro-Can down in Deer Run has had their pumps closed since last Tuesday. I hope these guys running the stations are getting compensation from Petro-Can.

Even though they share the same pipeline, each shipment is batched within the pipeline and the product isn't mixed. They can track who owns the product as it arrives - it isn't all just thrown into a big pool.

Tanker trucks can have multiple "compartments" within the big tank thing...

or the opposite. Petro can may start a gas war in an effort to get customers back and compensate their retailers.

That is fine, fuckers don't even give you the 3 cents off unless you have their gay member card.

I never fill up at petro-can.

Yeah the card is kind of dumb, supposed to be 3c off, but they just put the price up 3c to begin with..

^really? i haven't filled up at petro in a long ass time, i thought they change it automatically at the pump. So the sign says 3.5 cents more and the pumps have 3.5 cents less the sign price. I drove by superstore and they were offering 7 cents off but i think that's members only as well.

I dunno most of the time it seems if there's a few stations around, all the signs will say ~1.25, you get to PC and it's 1.28 or 1.25 with the card.

I fill up at Esso on 36th/Memorial you save like 5 cents a litre off the advertised price. I think it's because it's self serve, and they don't have to pay to run a store/pay employees. Also, you can earn Esso Extra points on top as well.
