what kind of amp?

make sure your ground is grounded properly
check the fuses on your amp too

Kind of a long shot here, but were the RCA's facing the correct direction? Check your gains? Speaker terminals connected to correct polarities?

Your RCA cables should be directional. You can't just plug whatever end in any direction. There should be some arrows on the RCA cable. Arrows point to the amp.

Something else came to mind. Where was the RCA's connected to on the deck?? A subout or front/rear preout?? If they're connected to a front/rear preout and you have the speakers running off the deck off the regular wires, that could be the source of your problem as well (that happened to me once)
