It’s been known since the outset that the Bugatti Veyron would be limited to just 300 units, but what would come next has been an unknown. Reports are beginning to emerge, however, that the company is planning an all-new model for 2011 or 2012. Latest reports indicate the company could crank output up another 20% or more, from the current car’s 987hp (736kW) to 1,200hp (895kW) - enough to reach 270mph (432km/h).

Specifics on the new car are few, but according to Autocar Bugatti CEO Franz-Josef Paefgen has announced the new car will be coming. So far the design priorities are that the car mesh with the company’s storied history and that it evolve the basic idea behind the Veyron. As Paefgen put it, “A totally different direction is not an option.”

Hopefully they will improve the looks too but lets see what this beast will be capable of.

lol

that is a pretty large increase in top speed though, the next car will have to be more slippery than the current veyron along with that extra power, maybe they will end up taking the weight down a little.

Weight doesn't really come into play nearly as much as Cd at those speeds.

I would assume it's going to look almost the same. Aren't too many body shape options when you get to 400km/h+

but it would certainly help a little bit as the car is very heavy, so liek the special editions with a bit more lightening, this would have a faster accelleration and then would make it a bit easier to get up to those speeds.

432 kph?

why not just make a car that does 500kph with 2000hp.... and 12 turbos.

Because crashing at 430 kph results in the same as crashing at 500 kph, well maybe with slightly more identifiable parts.

i dont follow, they are not allowed to build fast cars because....

Well it does have 10 radiators.

you cant just go out and do 400+ kph anytime you'd like in a veyron anyways, even with the key in place, if you touch the brakes, or steer more than (15?) degrees, the car deploys the spoilers and lifts the body work, automatically

bugatti even says the veyron is a non-profit generating flagship model + engineering exercise

the math doesn't add up either, because you'd need more than just an extra 200 bhp to increase top end speed from 400 kph to 432 kph, you'd need closer to 300 bhp extra

i love the physics bending veyron, to bad i'll likely never ride in one :-(

No, they can build cars as fast as they wan to... I was just trying to say that above a certain speed, it really doesent matter how fast you go because when you crash you will die either way so why stop at 432kph.

That's your opinion, plus like Schocker said it looks like that because it has to be super slippery to make that speed.

 man does the Veryon really need that extra 30ish km top speed.. then again, i'd die to sit it in while doing 430+ :nut:

Hopefully someone is working on the tires as well.. that's what I would be concerned about.
