I found this pretty interesting. I do it everyday yet i am unaware of what it truly is.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yawn

A yawn is a reflex of simultaneous inhalation of air and stretching of the eardrums, followed by exhalation of breath.

Yawning is associated with tiredness, stress, overwork, lack of stimulation, or boredom. Yawning can also be a powerful non-verbal message with several possible meanings, depending on the circumstances. In humans, yawning has the infectious quality, i.e. seeing a person yawning, or just thinking of yawning, can trigger yawning which is a typical example for positive feedback.[3] The exact causes of yawning are still undetermined.

I can bet you will yawn from reading this link.

Isn't it also a sign of empathy to yawn when you see someone else yamn?

Its a well known fact that our Bodies unintentionally mimic each others movements and mannerisms etc.

Whoa. I did yawn after reading that. Not sure if it's reflexes or because I read something trivial ;)

Anywhos, I think it's neat that you yawn when you think about it. And yes, I did that once in an elevator for a sociological experiment (I did it for kicks but saying that makes it sound more important.) I also faced the wall opposite of the doors when the elevator was empty and someone walks in. I also did it when there was people in it already. My, I got a lot of weird looks. :dunno: Also didn't help to say, "you need a mint, friend."

Ah the human body....

Yeah. This girl once told me she doesn't date people who don't yawn (when others do) b/c it shows a lack of empathy
