I think anything RWD in winter without proper tires would suck

RX7, break out the sandbags and winter tires man. My car was hectic in the snow last year...no more winters for my car.

My RX7 GXL was fine in the winter. It was a helluva lot better then my s10 that had like 15 sand bags in the back. I might want to add that i did NOT have winter tires in the rx7 either.

I park the 240 in the winter, but get tempted to bring it out early cause we get some nice days, then all of a sudden you get the mid march snow dump, my car gets stuck everywhere. My parking stall is on a little bit of an angle, and my car would slide out of the stall and into the middle of the parking lot. I would assume an RX7 wouldnt be much better.

just get some good winter tires and a 1/2 to full gas tank should be fine. I know people who are running 300+ TQ cars in the winter no worries, when driven properly. The only thing i would worry about is how she runs, however i am not a rotorhead so i wont say anything.

I drove my 82 corolla the entire winter 2 years ago. If you know how to drive properly, no problemo.

RX-7 = BAD for winter don't kid yourselfs...However it can be fun if it is a beater RX-7 as you wont cry when you smash it up. Just my 2 cents.

I drove my turbo RX-7 around two winters in a row, a couple sand bags and good winter tires and I had NO problems, never got stuck no accidents. I actually prefered it to the civic I had before that.

if you just get good winter tires then it prety good, i took mine to Kicking Hourse in Golden about 8 times last winter and i had no problems. I even drove there a few times when it was snowing like crazy and i still had no problems.

I have driven my rx-7 the last few winters and it is fine as long as you get some decent snow tires. And it is a lot more predictable and easier to control if it does go into a slide. I would rather drive my car in the winter than a lot of other cars out there, some fwd drives included.

I second that. Just have a decent set of Winters and use common sense and you'll be okay. I drove a 240 for a while last winter on all-seasons and even then it wasn't so bad

HTH :)

That all depends. I sold my truck primarily because it was terrible in the winter, and passing on the highway was sooooo dangerous.

RWD, ~58-42 weight bias, open diff. If you attempt to pass, and there is a lot of snow in the middle of the road, almost a guarenteed spin out :thumbsdow

Thats why an rx-7 isn't so bad in the winter. 50/50 wieght balance and some with an lsd makes it very predictable. I used to have a 4x4 pickup before my car and yeah it would accelerate faster but once it got up to speed it was scary to control sometimes.

if you actually get trained or have good experience in driving RWD you actually have more control than FWD... FWD your tires can lock (even in rain) and you hafta force the steering wheel but your pretty safe in RWD. I like both so im not gettin into this. lol

put a 1/4 million kn's + on my 79 year round. snows & ski rack... Lake Louise here I come. used to do endless drifts in the empty parking lots with a foot of snow....any deeped and my air dam would load up with snow and stop the car.

I put in a LSD after a few years.. that helped. when going up steep icy hills I would pass FWD that were scrabbling for grip cuz the weight transfer to the front had killed their grip. my 86 was fine too.

went to FWD with a 323GT turbo ... no more drifting....just better straight ahead accel. less control in icy corners.
