Click above for high-res gallery of the Hyundai i10.

Since last October, Hyundai has been selling the i10 minicar in 70 countries throughout the world. The diminutive sedan is just over 140 inches long (about 20 inches shorter than the Honda Fit), powered by an 80 hp, 1.2-liter four that returns up to 56 mpg and retails for between $7,800 and $11,200 in India. Those specs could be enticing for American consumers looking for a simple runabout that's smaller than the Fit/Yaris and larger than the smart fortwo, so Hyundai is seriously considering bringing it to the States.

According to a Hyundai source speaking with Automotive News, the i10 would retain its name and could be badged either a Hyundai or a Kia. Output would be increased, and its curb weight would grow by around 400 pounds in order to meet U.S. safety standards. But with features like keyless entry, ABS, dual airbags and fog lamps, the i10 could be a serious consideration for consumers looking for a cheap commuter with the amenities they've grown to expect.

bigger than a fortwo but smaller than a fit/yaris, werd.... if it was me I'd either choose a fortwo or fit/yaris, what will the small difference in size even mean?

The CityRover's running costs were rather high, and its asking price was high compared with newer, better built and better specified rivals such as the Fiat Panda.

MG Rover was reported to be paying Tata £3,000 for each car and, despite each model featuring a Rover corporate nose and revised suspension settings, the buying public was not impressed by the £7,000 starting price.

The CityRover made the media again when Rover refused to lend one to Top Gear to test. In order to answer the question of "just how bad could it be?" James May went undercover and test drove one at a dealer while carrying a hidden camera. He subsequently declared it to be the worst car he had ever driven on the show.

Let's hope it's not quite the same thing... The Hyundai/Kia sure sounds better than a 15yr old JDM or 200k Honda, and if it comes with their awesome warranty then consider me almost kinda definitely test driving it :D

Rover did the same thing and fell flat on their asses. :) except that that car retailed for £7,000 which is equal to almost $13,000 CDN, which is comparable to the fit/yaris, this one will be a base of ~$8,000 being the cheapest new car out there, which will appeal to many.

You cannot directly convert UK and NA prices, a £19,300 base-model UK Accord is only $25,090 in Canada. A £7,000 car would probably be around $10,000 or a bit less.

Ford's bringing over 6 new vehicles from Europe as well, looks like all the manufacturers are feeling the oil crunch. Some glad I'm not in that industry....oh wait, I write oil and gas software.....doh.......
