View Full Version : If you had $200,000 - would you get a '06 Vanquish S?

As the title states:

If you had $200,000 - would you get a '06 Vanquish S?

I know of someone that is looking to pick up a summer toy (over the coming winter), and is seriously considering a Vanquish S.
My question to you, is would you go with this vehicle if you had $200k to spend? Yes? No?

If so, why?
And if not, why not? (And what would you rather have?)

I'd probably go for the freshened V8 Vantage now.

Or an Audi R8. Or wait for the R8 TDi. Or a 911 GT3 RS. Or a Gallardo. Or a 360 Modena.... man, there's too many cars to choose from these days.

I drive an Audi.

The Vanquish is gorgeous... the DB9 outperforms it, but it really comes down to which you like better.

Oh COME on, Ryan.

My Vantage was the first or second in Calgary in May 07, it's not like these are as common as a 360/430/911...

Like I said I looovvee AM's but I have a tough time determining which model each one is, they all have similar styling. I would take one over a Bentley CGT anyday but if I was shelling out that much cash it would be more of a track car instead of a gt car.

Anyway, I would get a Ferrari or Lamborghini something......:bigpimp:

I would definitely pick up a white Gallardo.
Why the hell would anyone buy a GT3 RS for driving around the streets daily? Isn't that car like a stripped out GT3 with a rollcage and stiff as fuck suspension?

If I had $200000 I would get the new GTR. Way better car IMO but if I was to buy a Austin Martin it would be the DB9S.

If I had to buy an AM, I'd buy one with 2000 km on it for a 50% discount.. they fall off a cliff.

They are not impressive cars, other than their styling, which is amazing. There are just too many great alternatives.

flipstah

I'd buy an Alfa Romeo 8C or a Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder.

Clarkson looked like he had so much fun testing them out.

Or an R8 and have money left over for a Hemi Orange Challenger SRT8.

So many things to choose from!

Kulu has a navy blue car right now for 130

I would probably search high and low for a 360CS or a nice 997.

I don't think I'd be able to buy something I can't tune.....you touch a bolt on that thing and instantly drop horsepower, it's perfect from the factory. So I'd likely go for a cheaper vehicle like a NSX and still have money to modify it.

But if he does want to get something straight off the lot, I'd get the GTR 100 times over the Vanquish S.

Actually being able to own a car and a house at the same time haha.

Being serious though I would have a hard time spending 200k on a car unless I'm making millions.

I agree with redline I see as many AM's on the road as I do e92 m3s... and I saw 4 almost in a row today. It's not like they are super pricey, they are about 100K give or take a bit for a really low km 07 vantage. Thats the price of about any other non supercar lux/sport car on the mkt

ZorroAMG
08-28-2008, 12:15 AM
Mhmmmm....Find me a Canadian well equipped '07 for 100K....they are min 120 still.

Considering the M3's just came out a few months ago as opposed to 05 for the Vantage, I'm not surprised. Wait a year and E92 M3's will be like civics, like the E46 M3 is now...

Additionally, since this gent is in the States - 65's can be had for the $170,000 range.

go on kulu's site 07 loaded vantage 110K... with only 4000km. It's croseed my mind to get one - AM is nice, but i hate the fact a car junkie has troubles telling between the models and the performance at least in the numbers arent that spectacular.

depends how much extra money I had. If I had $200,001 to spend extra then I wouldnt.

If I had $1,000,000,000 then yeah I would, what would $200,000 be?!?

I would have to have at least $15 million to make it worth my while

It doesn't matter if it's canadian or not. The fact is you can buy one from either side and even more importantly the car is in the city.

I bought my car in Canada and its way cheaper in the US... BFD...

It's still the same damn car, it's not like the Canadian market car has some better performing car or it's more prestigious. At the end of the day and it's only my opinion the AM's have above average performance, but the true appeal is appearance.

They are gorgeous.. and I doubt cdn vs american has any effect on value anyway.. guess it would piss you off if you bought one in Canada and spend 40% more. We bought a BMW in Canada last year and you could have gotten it for 40% less two months later.. kind of brutal.
