Hello,

I'm curious as to what insurance companys say about racing? Take for example RaceCity Speedway. If something were to happen there and you had to put a claim through would they cover you? Or for another example, if the insurance company found out you were racing there would they deny your coverage? And help in the matter would be appricated. Thanks!

If it's a timed event (ie Solo2, Solo1, Secret Street) there is no insurance coverage, period. Your policy will not cover damages at such events. It's written clearly in your policy.

If it's a non timed event (ie lapping day, driver education), they MAY cover you, depends on the insurance company.

Alright, thanks!

But if they find out your racing can/will they deny you?

Are you suggesting lying about being at the track?

Well, you can do whatever you want with your car. The insurance company isn't gonna care until you make a claim.

Nono, he means this.

Billy goes racing one day.

6 months later, Billys insurance company hears from an anonymous source that Billy has been racing.

Insurance company calls up Billy and says, "WTF, you were racing? No more insurance for you!"

OR

Billy is in some kind of non-racing accident and has to make a claim. Insurance company says, "WTF, you were racing this car a few months ago? Sorry, no coverage for you"

You buy insurance for normal street driving, if you get in an accident doing anything other than that then they have the right to deny your claim, but they cannot deny you a claim which took place on the street just because you drive the car off-street.

They can however chose not to insure you if they think you are too much of a risk. If they know you drive the car at the track, then they'll know you probably drive it harder on the street than the average person, and may chose not to cover you because of that. If you do have insurance, and you make a claim, they cannot deny you the claim, but if they know you drive at the track, then they can deny you the policy in the first place.

In short:

If you have a legitimate accident while you have insurance, they cannot deny you the claim. If they find out that you race the car, they have the right to cancel your policy (of course they have to give you proper notice of cancelation)....they actually have the right to cancel your policy for any reason whatsoever.
