Hey guys, I did a search for this but it didn't come up with anything.

I have some female friends who are heading down to LA tomorrow. Obviously, there will be some shopping involved. Can anybody recommend any good malls in the LA area? Or even some shopping districts? They will have access to a car, but they don't want to drive too far out.

I would put the border at Santa Monica east, Long Beach south, Burbank north, and Monterey Park east. They most likely will not travel past those areas.

Thanks!

Tell them to drive out to Cabazon, it's just a little outside of Los Angeles. http://www.cabazonoutlets.com/ , it's a huge outlet with a lot of great stores. Probably take them half a day at least to go through each store and pick up stuff they want. I went back a couple times cause PacSun had just really cheap t-shirts you would pay double for here in Calgary. They have higher end stuff like Donna Karen, Armani, Dolce & Gabana, etc..

- There's The Grove, it's like an outdoor mall. Some pretty nice stores there. The A&F there has some hot staff.
- Beverley Center has some pretty high end stuff
- Santa Monica Promenade also has good shopping. It's like a Stephen Avenue, but it actually has people and nice shops.
- Certain spots along Melrose are good too. It's been awhile since I've been down in the area, but I think it's Melrose and Crescent (or Crescent Heights), where there are some nice little shops in the area like Fred Segel and stuff. A few blocks west of Melrose and La Brea also has some nice shops there as well.

It's not a "little" it's like almost an hour out to the middle of no where, east direction too. Only worth going if you're gonna go give the natives money at their casinos.

Santa Monica is West BTW, but you have third street promenade there.

South Coast Plaza at Costa Mesa

Victoria Gardens at Ontario

Brea Mall and Downtown Birch Street in Brea

The Grove near Westminster/Garden Grove area

If you don't mind the drive, the outlet malls are really worth the trip. You save so much money, especially if your female friends are heavy users of the plastic.

If not, go to Santee Alley. My god, the stuff you'll find there. If you know how to bargain, then this is heaven for you.

I always go to Santa Monica Prominade to shop , its close to the beach (Its a few streets down from Sunset BLVD isnt it?).. Anyways good place to find shoes and some sweet cloths. It also has alot of resturants that are affordable , and a really good Pizza place (Cant remember the name , I just remember that it has pool tables and a bar inside it).

Rodeo isnt that great if they are just girls going for a little trip , the cloths are very exspensive (unless you go to the guess ) and everyone walks down it like they are famous or someone will think they are famous lol. I did however find a few cool Hugo Boss Shirts and belt , but I probably paid the same as I would at Holt.

Also if they are in Burbank , tell them to check out the Universal Studios place , they have some good stores (Ambercrombie ect ) and some good resturants to just chill and people watch (Planet Hollywood there too.)

So are a lot of things as a lot of the roads in LA stretch from the ocean to to really far east. To be close to the famous part of Sunset, it's about a 20-30 minute drive east on Sunset

Yep, in theory a lot of those drives are "short", but LA traffic is amazing, it's like a plague that grows each year and gets worse and worse... just today I was stuck in traffic right after lunch hour 12pm..that traffic doesn't end until 8pm at night. Just 4 years ago that same traffic didn't start until 4pm...

make sure they plan their shopping trips within a 15 mile radius. A lot of people come here thinking "Oh they over hype their traffic!", yea just wait till you sit in one.

Quick note: If there's daylight, stay off the 405

I was in LA this summer and was given advice by a few people to plan my travelling around rush hour trraffic. I thought it couldn't be that bad... they have 5 lane freeways with commuter lanes. Fuck! I sat in traffic going from Anaheim to South LA for 3 hours in a car that didn't like stop and go traffic and had a heavy clutch. I had to drink a lot that night.:banghead:

We went to LA/Anaheim in August and there was no traffic. I think it just luck. We left a lot of time to go places though.

Beverly Center, Beverly blvd

I like the disel stores there. You can get a pair for 100 dollars in almost all sizes , and you can ask them try it on too they don't look at you weird like they have them all locked up at Latitude in Chinook Center where prices start at 350 and the length is so shorter then a 34

Traffic doesn't know months, it just knows how to pile. Oh yea we also have the wonderful drivers that go "OMG the ramp to switch freeways is coming up! *makes sudden 4 lane change stopping traffic*" and that isn't just one person, it's several.
