I'm almost 36 years old and have eaten pork pretty much my whole life. I have never become sick or contracted any type of disease from pork.

All of my family, and friends also enjoy this tasty meat and not one person has ever become sick or infected with any type of disease from eating pork.

I've eaten it 25+ years and have only been sick once from it, on the other hand, I've eaten chicken for 25+ years and have been sick from it 4-5 times.

The pork and 2 times of chicken were in oil field camps (before the boom, when they were some pretty sketchy places), 2 times from local restaurants, and once because I was drunk and cooking (or undercooking I should say)

Mind you it's all hearsay, as I have no definite confirmation it was the meat, could have been other bacteria in the accompanying foods.

I think I ate some bad deli meat like 8 yrs ago, got a little sick. (I made a sandwich and ate most of it, then asked my buddy if he thought it smelled a little funny and he almost gagged) ha... I made it in the dark and didn't really notice the meat had kind of browned. Other then that, never been sick from food really. I credit growing up on a farm and eating shit all of the time, (because thats what things do on farms; eat shit all day) it's heightened my immune system greatly.

ive once eaten 2 raw chicken breast my mom made me and i finished the whole thing except one last bite where i took a look at it and noticed it was raw.

I thought the old issue with pork was that you can get worms in your gut from eating undercooked pork. Does that make you obviously ill or what? Never had parasitic worms before....gross.

Where with chicken you get salmonella poisoning which does make one very ill.

I don't think the parasitic worms are an issue anymore since pig farming is cleaner and they don't eat each other's feces (is where the worms would come from). So you can eat slightly undercooked pork nowadays and it won't harm you. But I would still prefer fully cooked pork. Only beef should be served rare.
