Just got a new bike.. and time to gear up...

I was down at BowCycle last night and was looking at the Spyke Ghost-WP Black/White or the Grey/White jacket. I can't seem to find any riding reviews on Spyke, but Bow is asking 449.99, and willing to knock 25% off. Any thoughts on opinions?

Also, I'm going to be looking into Pants, and gloves. Any recommendations on either? I would like gloves for the current weather if possible, a little cool in the morning, warming up in the afternoon... maybe with a microfleece removable liner?

I have chosen the helmet. I tried on at least 20 before I found that I liked the fit of the RF-1000 best. Snug, but not too too tight, and I could still put on my glasses.

Thanks in advance...

Congrats on the new bike..what did you get?

For casual, around-town riding, I've been really happy with my cargo Draggin' Jeans from Universal Cycle. They're expensive at $200 a pop, but offer excellent protection and comfort.

I have the same Helmet. I love it.

If your buying leathers. Buy them a little tight as it will stretch over time.

+1 for what bike you bought?

Can't wait to pick it up. :D

Been shopping on ebay this morning looking at helmets, and I can't decide between

or

I think I'm gonna have to go and try on some more Jackets, as I can't find anything on this Spyke Ghost WP jacket on any review sites.. it was comfy, but I hate buying blind..

The one I'm looking at shows up as dark grey instead of blue..

http://www.spyke.it/prodotto/index.php in the short textiles..

I won't get it in time for the ride saturday. Still waiting on my helmet.

Nice, are you picking it up in time for the cruise on Sat/Sun? If you are I'll see you there.

Test fit at local shops

Buy on Ebay!

Sucks to not support the calgary retailers, but local shops are way too spendy. My helmet that I bought on Ebay for $320 shipped was $480 at Bow. :barf:

I completely agree. I'm gonna head down to blackfoot this evening and try on some more jackets before I decide on the Spyke again. Also want to try on some gloves and boots.. ebay ftw over local.

is the jacket even leather? Nothing protects like leather

No, it's a textile.

textile is cooler but it will and won't ever protect as well as leather.

imo thats fucken expensive for a textile jacket you can get a decent leather one for the same price

Agreed ^

Leather protects best. If you're riding outside the city quite a bit, a decent one or two piece riding suit is a must...either leather or textile.

Just don't ride in jeans! :D

BTW, nice bike...my first 'real' bike was an 89 Katana 750. It was smooth/comfortable and more than fast enough for me...well...at the time anyways :)
