Looks like M3s are still having issues.

Saw one broken down with the hood open on Eastbound Glenmore under the 14th street interchange.

Sucked to be that guy.

booooooom :(.

I saw one blow up right in front of me. He tried to race me in my SLK 320 but I didn't bite. He probably thought my car was an AMG. When he shifted into 2nd, it blew up.

Note how Rage said: "SLK 320" and not "SLK 32". He owns both the 320 and the 32. Very different beasts. :D

It wasn't a missed shift (u can't really damage going from 1st to 2nd). It blew up because E46 M3's have a design flaw with it's bearings.

The 320 is his winter beater, the 32 AMG is his summer ride. You know you have to much money when...

This made me sick to my stomach reading the stories of these people with their $90 000 cars being treated like trash by the BMW dealerships.:thumbsdow

From what I've heard, if you had the SLK32 at the time, you'd probably be competing to see who would break first :)

Seems everyone has massive problems with the electronics/supercharger in those 32s. (Cs + SLKs)

Mercedes and BMW going downmarket pisses me off.. although I can't think of anything better for the price.

I got a lemon with the 32, and I'm dealing with it. My other SLK's were perfect, so I'm just hoping we find the one part that's causing all the headaches. It's just my car, kenny's car has been near perfect.

hah. The dropouts guide to the good life. I'll be the co-author.

As for the SLK32 being a lemon, I'm not so sure about that.. I've heard lots of bad stuff. I didn't buy the 2004 that was mistakenly ordered because the owner of the dealership told me that there are a ton of warranty issues with the supercharged 3.2 in both the SLK and the C class.

Can't beat the power though, and it looks like the E46 isn't much better for reliability :)

After buying the G500, I think it might be my last Mercedes.. I can't believe how poorly made these cars are. Honestly, they remind more of Chryslers than anything.

I think I am going to have to boycott new cars until they do something about this nonsense.

At least it's not cadillac, I've seen three Eldorado's and one STS brokendown or stalled in the past two days.

My mom test drove an STS two years ago, it was an automatic and it stalled. They called her after and said they fixed it, she went back and it stalled again.

A lot of the new cars are just plain crap IMO.

There are a ton of warranty issues with the car for minor irritants, but not too many involving major mechanical problems. There are a bunch of problems on the SLK that are not limited to the AMG model, and have been major issues since the release of the SLK. As for AMG specific problems there was a problem with a bunch of C32 and SLK32 cars that were delivered. These cars all had power delivery problems with the supercharger cutting out. I have read about 2 - 3 of these cases on forums, and all of them turned out to be linked to fuses. On my car a couple months back, the same fuse blew resulting in the same problem (water pump for air/water intercooler went causing really high IAT).

I know of one SLK32 with MAJOR problems that have yet to be diagnosed with the dealer, and I am sure there are a bunch more that do not get posted on public forums.

I don't think the problems with the SLK32/C32 are even close in magnitude to the E46 M3 failures, but then again, there are a lot more E46 M3s rolling around North America.

You should ask your dealer how many of those warranty issues they mention have to do with major mechanical problems, I'm kind of curious.

You're right, it isn't major issues like the ones that plauged the first couple years of the E46M3. The point is that if you pay a premium for a car, you expect a certain level of quality. If I wanted a Ferrari (and the crap that comes along with owning one), I'd get one :) I want german cars to be bulletproof.

I want a CLS55 now.

Thank god for warranty!
No wonder these cars drop so significantly in value after the warranty period.
