3G iphone worth it?

I ordered one when I signed a new contract earlier this week, but had the CSR block the data so I don't have to pay the $30 monthly data fee. I've heard that the phone is way less useful without this data plan, and I'm having a hard time deciding what to do with it once it comes in. At first I was thinking of just selling the phone once it comes in the mail.

Is the phone worth keeping and using without data and accessing just through wifi, since I'm gonna be in a wifi accessible area most of the time (university, home).

What sort of things can I do with the $30 data plan that would justify spending that much each month?? Any examples of really sweet applications etc.

i use the gps function alot, as well as fetch email wherever i go. always having access to the internet wherever i am is convenient as well. always on youtube on my breaks at work.

$30 is well worth the price IMO

the $30 for the data was a good deal but I thought it was only for the month of august that you get that much data for that price

Ah I see than clearly its worth it imo if you like the iphone I must admit its easy to browse and has cool features but its a mac

I read that rogers will introduce a 1GB for $30 plan soon after the 6GB promotion ends. It sounded to me like it would not require a contract and if that is all true (I really don't know, I just read an article in the paper about it) then it would be a better deal to me.
