Wanted to post this thread up because I was amused at what happened to me tonight. I was at the southland leisure centre meeting a couple friends, i left the parking lot and took a left onto southland drive, I passed the intersection at the shell, as soon as i got through the lights I heard a loud knocking noise. I immediately pulled over into the bus lane and put on my four-ways. Right when i got out this is what I saw:

I couldn't believe something that big ended up in my tire..

I did the usual, jacked it up put the new tire on etc.. and pulled out the metal peice that was inside my tire:

It was a drillbit peice, the type for cutting wood if im not mistaken..
Just thought i'd share my unusual night with beyond.ca

Exactly what I was thinking.. I don't know how but as soon as I came over the intersection and went over a small bump that thing got in my tire.

i mean...if you turned hard and the outside of your tire caught it, it would seem more likely.

but on the inside?

dude...lol jesus does not like you

its probably some kid who stuck it in there, and u only heard the noise AFTER because the thing was lodge in deep enough not to make any metal clinging noises...

after a lil drive the pressure, and movement of the tire, will start moving it out causing it to hit the underbody of ur car...

this is all my hypothesis...so dont bite my head off

Not biting any heads.. but I was with my car the whole night, never left it out of my sight, so i know it was impossible for someone to lodge a bit into my tire.

Funniest part about the night was that this guy in a brand new blue bmw asked us if we needed help (i was with one other friend in my car at the time, leaving my jack and tire iron in my garage the very morning) And we both said yes, we said we needed a jack and a tire iron, he said he had a 92 civic for his second car.. oddly enough he said he would be back in 5 minutes with the jack and iron because he only lived just down the road, he never came back haha.

Wow that thing is massive....pretty strange how you got it in there. Bad luck man.

I bet that fell off a contractors truck onto the road that you were driving on, bad luck ;)

Wow, that's odd that something that big got stuck.

Could be some idiot kids lodged it in the ground pointing straight up, and since it is so small you may never have seen it when you drove over it. If it was laying flat on the road there is almost no way it would have wedged in your tire like that. You'll probably find a big scratch on your rim where it hit it digging in before it turned sideways. From the look of the hole it came in pretty straight too.

It would only have to be slightly at an angle, against a small stone, or crack in the pavement to be picked up by a tire.

It COULD have been, but this thing was too top heavy to be stood straight up, i tried it myself.. It's not that little at all like 5-6 inches.

I've discovered an allan-key in a flat tire of mine before, not even sharp. So anything can happen. :D

If it was any deeper in, the tire would have instantly gone flat.
