Xbox 360 hdmi question

hey guys. Just hooked up an hdmi cable to the Xbox 360. Audio is messed up. Searched online and it says that you have to hook up the audio wires. I have the xbox 360 pro and it did not come with the av cable that has the audio cable input. I believe this only comes with the elites. Any suggestions as to what I can do?

I can't I put both the av and the hdmi cable in as they both won't fit.

What do you mean audio is messed up? If you've got hdmi going through an hdmi decoding amp then there shouldn't be a problem...

This is what I used when I had the hdmi hooked up. This did come with the elite when I purchased it.

you dont need the converter if you just want the audio coming out of your TV, also you don't need the converter anyways, you can bust open the stock component cables and use the audio on there.

hey man. after doing this im still getting distorted sound even with my audio cables plugged in. any suggestions? i tried every white and red audio input on my tv. no luck

u sure its not your tv? cuz sound through HDMI shouldn't have been messed up in the first place, sounds like tv issue, or perhaps your xbox is messed

definetely not the tv. i heard some tvs cant take the input of the hdmi audio/video (Even though they support HDMI) and need additional audio inputs for optimal viewing.

im going to try and borrow my buddies elite component wire and see if that helps. it has the hdmi and audio plugs built into the component wire.

maybe the setup of your tv, you can change your audio imput on some tv's, make sure it says hdmi then you don't need anymore cables.

there will be no difference with the hdmi cable from the elite unit.

What audio setting do you have your 360 set to? Perhaps you've got it set to WMAPro and your amp doesn't support it? Only thing I can think of if you're actually hearing sound through hdmi but distorted...
