if you don't have a spare CD/DVD drive already, then its just cheaper to get it already set up...

I've got one lying around. I think its a 16x CD-RW

$30obo I've got the cables and probably the software cd too if you really need it. Used to use it to burn CD's with my laptop back in the day. I'm sure its still good.

PM me and we can arrange to meet up.

CDROMs are for fools. You have a few machines around the house, right? Share the drive or the ISO (mount with Daemon Tools) and install it over the network.

Mac and Linux can access Windows fileshares using Samba/CIFS. Basically you have the machines on your LAN, hooked up to the ports on your router. Pop the CD into your Windows machine, right-click on the drive and go to the Sharing tab. Enable sharing for the CDROM drive (if filesharing is off, there's a link to enable "simple filesharing" there), then on your netbook you can browse your Entire Network or just go to Start... Run... and type in \\name where name is the machine sharing the drive. Then you should be able to see the drive and just run the CD like normal.

Makes sense? Works? :D

BTW, your wireless machines might not be able to access the wired machines, so just hook them all up thru ethernet.

Also, you'll need to logon to the share using your usual Windows username/password.
